Hello everybody.
What are you choice for vpn services?
Should i go with Nord or Express?
I think i want to use Wireguard but kinda cant find which vpn supports to configure it on router. I knoe Nord doesnt.
Maybe you have better options?
Most VPN services are owned by Kape, who are shady company. One of the ones that isn’t and everyone likes seems to be Mullvad. I’ve started using them and it works. Not sure if they do wireguard.
I’ve been with PIA for years and it’s always been good for speed and they also provide wireguard.
I tried switching to nordvpn a couple of years ago and the speed was awful so I fought to get my money back and returned to PIA. I’m based in the UK and tend to use UK PIA servers.
ProtonVPN does WireGuard and OpenVPN. Tested it with gl-inet routers.
They do support streaming services if you are a PVPN Plus customer.
I run 3 instances of Mullvad on my Pfsense router in an HA Gateway. Performance is incredible and can completely max out my 1GbE fiber connection through VPN.
I’ve also used ProtonVPN with similar results.
IVPN.
They’re the only ones that care about your security.
Airvpn or cryptostorm
You can wireguard with Nord, but it’s you have to use a seperate linux system to get the keys. It’s not a simple supported method though.
I use Nord, but switched back from wireguard to OVPN. It does work fine to geo unblock streaming sites
For information, NordVPN does through a little bit of manual work (https://www.reddit.com/r/PFSENSE/comments/m0989o/nordvpn_wireguard_setup_works/), but all Wireguard IPs are 10.5.0.2, so you are limited to one VPN server through them.
The best one I have heard of that uses WireGuard is probably Mullvad VPN - Free the internet
Beyond that, I am not sure what else to recommend.
liquid slim fact aware person normal crowd offend support seemly

Proton VPN is not perfect, but it’s the best one I’ve found that has servers in Hong Kong and India, both of which I need.
I use Nord, simply because they’re not based in a nine-eyes country. As mentioned, it’s possible to use Wireguard with Nord, just takes a little jiggery pokery
I run a Nord Wireguard Client with 2 OVPN clients in a gateway group for backup.
I’ll probably change to Mullvad when my sub is up next year though.
I use OpenVPN. Works fine for me. There’s absolutely no reason to pay for a VPN using pfsense, since you can route all traffic through your pfsense router. So if you’re outside your network, you can connect to your private VPN and have the same protection Nord, or any other paid provider would offer.
Host your own VPN on VPS in desired country.
Only mulvad. Nord and express are sketchy af
If you need split tunneling, it doesn’t work at all on Nord. They have been aware for a while and still haven’t fixed it. If want to use netflix without turning off your vpn, don’t use Nord. If you want the fastest downloads while behind a vpn then Nord is the better choice. I switched from express because it would randomly shut off. Were it not for that I would have stayed with express. Nord is faster but express is fast enough, split tunneling works, and I have no issues with Netflix with express running.
Private configured VPN of course
Thanks gonna try to set up Mullvad and see how it goes
All VPN services are kind of sketchy. It goes with the territory and I’m not sure that any of them are really better than the others.
