Hey all! The proton VPN plus servers in Vancouver have been at 100% capacity for a couple days. Anyone know what’s up?
I have found that the West of Canada appears to be underserved and loads are often at max.
They are quite often. I contacted Proton VPN Support and they indicated the servers are monitored for high demand and it was being forwarded on. Nothing ever happened. I’m not renewing after my year is up.
Besides being it at full capacity, did it worked at less speed or anything else not working? Because AFAIK, servers at 100% should still work OK. Unless you have a different experience…
Was coming here to see if anyone else noticed this. Canadian servers always seem to be at 100% primarily and the speeds and connection have suffered a bit from what I’ve noticed.
I’m from Canada and use the Montreal servers, they too are maxing out. I’m not sure what the occasion is but I suspect non Canadians are using it. I believe Canada needs more servers.
Same. I have to use US servers instead…
So what’s going on Proton, all the Vancouver plus servers are maxed out, i am on holoday in Bc and getting great service from Seattle. Cmon, you Canadian customers deserve better
Proton is from Switzerland, they have no idea how Canadians use data. In fact we’re one of the most internet consumers in the world. That being said they noticed that all of our servers are always full so by default everyone, and I mean everyone outside of Canada assumes nothing else exists but Toronto. When I was in the UK and told people I’m from Canada they immediately assumed Toronto and had to correct them saying I’m from Montreal. ProtonVPN is pulling the same assumption. They added more servers in Toronto…where the least amount of traffic for VPNs is coming from…
Montreal is the furthest east out of the 3 cities so we’d have Americans on the east coast connecting and countries from overseas, it’s the same with Vancouver for the west coast and Asia. Toronto would only be good for people in Ontario and Midwest America. Yet for some odd reason ProtonVPN dumped more servers in the least active area and now Vancouver is only struggling with 4 servers on the plus servers and 4 on the basic. Montreal has more servers but barely surviving now they’re the only P2P servers and now that port forwarding has been released the P2P servers are always maxed out.
They need to put more servers in Montreal and Vancouver, it’s beyond me how they missed the maxed out servers in those regions and went ahead and put more servers where there’s the least amount of traffic…
You would have thought as well that a well versed company in the Internet, that the question, “so where is the most usage occurring and can we add servers?” Would have been one of the first even an intern would have been asking. I do hope that they contibue to expand and recognise that Toronto or London (uk) are the only places that users are based. #yesiambeingpassive @protonvpn
They did the same with US servers. Washington DC is always maxed out at all hours and yet they put more servers in LA and NYC…they already have a dump truck amount of servers when DC and Phoenix are struggling and capping out all the time. They keep adding free servers too…
