I’m trying to bind ExpressVPN with qBittorrent. For some reason, I can’t find the VPN in the Network options, nor do any of the options disappear when I disconnect the VPN.
My options are:
-Ethernet
-Local Area Connection
-Ethernet 2
-Local Area Connection* 1
-Local Area Connection* 10
-Wi-Fi
-Bluetooth Network Connection
-Loopback Psudeo-Interface 1
Again, I tried quitting qBittorrent, turning off the VPN, restarting, and no options changed.
Are you using docker? I have a setup using a container called gluetun (which works with most providers) and then qbittorrent container uses it for networking, by selecting the tun0 interface in qbittorents settings. I used the example post @sarkyscouser here to create my docker compose file. You’d just need to modify it for yourself and use express VPN settings. Good luck https://www.reddit.com/r/docker/s/O3inmEOepk
I have Express VPN and mine is “Local Area Connection*2” for some reason. it took some trying but this connection works for me. I used a test torrent to check the connection. But it took about a hour and a half to figure it out.
Turned out being “Local Area Connection” for me. I wonder why would it be listed as that? Strange. I just hope it’s right. It functions like it should now (I think?). Got a public domain test torrent, and tried it out. As soon as the VPN is turned off, the torrent stops donwloading. I can’t continue the download until I reconnect. Awesome. Thanks for the advice!
I figured this out. All you need to do is test out both : download a random file through it and turn off the vpn, if the download speed doesnt drop to 0 try it with the second one and make sure you fully close the torrent after the first try.
