Uploading images to Discord on Android, VPN needs to be started and stopped before file gets transferred

Every time I try to post a picture to Discord from my Android phone, the upload stalls. If I wait for it to finish, it takes a very long time, ten minutes or more.

If I connect to a VPN server then disconnect, the image file is transferred immediately.

Is this a common thing? Are there logs somewhere which might point to the cause? It’s very annoying.

It’s possible that the issue is with a certain VPN protocol (TCP/UDP/NordLynx) so you could try switching between them to check if it improves. You can change between them in the app settings. You can also try turning off Threat Protection if you have it enabled.

The problem happens with the VPN disconnected (the usual state for my phone). I have to connect then disconnect, and the upload succeeds.

I don’t see the threat protection setting for Android (but Google will tell me where it is).

Threat protection is off.
