I am unable to Windscribe servers through OpenVPN on a gl.inet AR300M router (https://amzn.com/B01I92T754). I am a pro member but I think my problem is that I am doing something wrong in the setup.
I generated the config and credentials via https://windscribe.com/getconfig/openvpn . The configs work fine via OpenVPN on my PC after logging in with the generated credentials.

I have tried changing DNS servers (to 10.255.255.1) but unfortunately, no luck. I also tried changing the DNS to 1.1.1.1 (cloudflare) or 8.8.8.8 (google) and then reconnecting but still, the VPN fails to connect. This screenshot (https://i.imgur.com/j1mJ3do.png) shows the DNS settings on my router, the different DNS links were entered in box 1 of the 2 red boxes shown at the botton. Each time, I have also tried toggling the “Override DNS Settings for All Clients” to see if that would help, but still, no luck.
I have tried other VPN clients (HMA, PIA, SurfShark) and these all connect successfully from the appropriate .ovpn configs generated from the provider sites. But I really want to stick with Windscribe and wish I wasn’t tied to using the Android app for netflix. I really hope to get all my devices effortlessly connected to Windscribe servers.
Please, if anyone could help, I would really appreciate it. Thanks so much in advance for your time.
I forgot to mention that have also tried TCP and UDP and all port numbers and ciphers - so many combos(!!) - but still no luck unfortunately. Sorry, I am just an average joe when it comes to tech.
I was looking for it but it seems Windscribe doesn’t give them put publicly anymore. Contact support for that. Also, maybe try a different server than Windflix US? That could also be the source of your problem.
Using just the first IP address, I opened the .ovpn file in notepad, changed the “remote wf-us.windscribe.com 443” to “remote 185.232.22.131 443” and then sent this edited .ovpn to the router… it now connects flawlessly! Ipleak.net shows the same IP as it appears when connected via the Windscribe app on my Android phone.
