I usually turn off my vpn every now and then when i need to access my local network, but this stops my download and uploads and i have to restart qbitorrent to fix it. Is there a faster way to accomplish this (like a refresh button) that im not aware of?
No. This is dangerous. Bind to the VPN, but always pause/close qbit before disconnecting. That’s how I do it, anyway.
Jiggle.
OpenVPN out Wireguard? Cause you can exclude your local network in Wireguard.
Your VPN should have an option to allow access to local network without turning off the VPN…
Which VPN do you have?
do you have qbittorrent bound to your vpn?
are you running on linux at all? If so in the morning i can post a command that will help with nordvpn and still accessing lan connections
You can try running both the vpn client and qbittorrent in docker. That way they can run separately and you can run the desktop client VPN, turning it on and off as you need for the rest of the computer’s traffic.
Alternatively, some VPN clients support split tunnelling. Where you can direct traffic from certain apps through the VPN, potentially avoiding the need to turn it on and off
I just have a proxy set up in qBittorrent, and use qBit’s search engine for torrents, I never need to manually turn on or off a VPN
I do have it binded . It’s just when I reconnect the uploading/downloading doesn’t auto start again until I close and restart the app
Yeah, that…might be a bug with qbit or you simply didn’t wait long enough.
Either way I’d close it.
At the bottom is a screenshot of the setting, set to enable.
“Access to your local network”
Also, in Qbittorent settings, if you havent already you should bind it to your VPN so Qbittorrent will only transfer data through your VPN:
Qbittorrent’s toolbar to open the Options window. Go to Advanced and in the drop-down menu next to Network Interface, select your VPN. Click OK and you’re done.
If you’re having trouble identifying your VPN in the drop-down menu, you can go to Settings > Network & Internet > Status and select Network and Sharing Center. If your VPN is connected, it’ll show up as one of the adapters on this page. Right-click the VPN and select Rename. You can now change its name to make it easier to identify and try binding it to Qbittorrent again.
Wow you’re a life saver. Thanks
