I have used Express vpn for a few years and than Kaspersky for awhile but since they are no longer operating in the US, I have been on the look out for a new vpn, especially with the black friday sales going on.
I have no complaints and that’s the best endorsement I can give. It just works…if you don’t use the apps.
No complaints here.
I started with ExpressVPN, moved to Nord, and jumped to Proton when I decided to move my personal email over to ProtonMail.
I maintain an always-on connection on my smartphone and home PCs and have 0 complaints.
It’s been mostly set and forget. Glad I made the jump and plan on staying here for awhile.
If your use case is general browsing just use smart protocol and the default settings. You should have a transparent experience. If you would like to begin to get a feel of what a more private use case scenario would be like then use the secure core when you are messaging or sending email. This is a highly underrated feature of the service that gives you the leading edge of encryption technology. Just remember to switch Secure Core off when you are done communicating. Maybe consider using the Proton Mail service. You should not think that any of this is out of the eyes of determined monitoring entities. But with the VPN and mail service you can express your desire for privacy with a clear posture. Happy computering
Works well for me. I use it on my phone and forget it’s running.
I have it loaded directly on my router and it works perfectly.
I recently visited india and I have Nordvpn, expressvpn, protonvpn (unlimited plan) but both nord, express is good speed and proton is struggling to reach speed.
I contacted customer care thy working on in past 2 month still not solving speed issue in indian servers, now using expressvpn vpn here for privacy
Been working great for the last few years for me.
The vpn that actually blocks ads. We all know we can’t stop YouTube ads but everything else works super. The best VPN for 2025 should be #1 next year.
Been using proton for years (first purchase was June 2018). Have since upgraded to proton unlimited since 2019 and it’s fantastic. I do alternate vpns regularly but always seem to prefer protons. Speed, consistency, serve availability, etc are all top tier.
Mostly no problems on iPhone, iPad, and Mac all on current os releases. Some sites or apps run checks at logon that require me to disconnect the vpn. I usually leave it disconnected until I’m completely finished with whatever I am doing with that company. I think Chase bank is sometimes a problem, for example. But generally the vpn runs without an issue.
No issues on Windows/Android. I started with a free account and now pay for Unlimited.
The only real complaint I would have is that we really don’t know what filter lists netshield uses for ad blocking and trackers. Also I don’t think netshield by itself is better than dedicated DNS like nextdns/controld. I also don’t know how well it does to combat os tracking which is somewhat of an issue on IOS and windows.
If none of those things are an issue for you it hasn’t been bad for me as an US user.
It works well. You should invest some time learning how VPNs work to maximize your security. Out of the box, VPN works, but your devices may need fine tuning to stay secure.
I used the free Proton VPN on and off for years, even though I also paid for ExpressVPN. I always liked Proton VPN and never had any issues with it. When I received a notice that the cost of ExpressVPN was going up, without offering any improvement to the existing product, I looked into a paid Proton VPN account. Realizing I could get a two-year Proton Unlimited subscription (which also included Mail, Drive, Pass, Calendar, and SimpleLogin, along with VPN) for less than two years of ExpressVPN (which is VPN only), I did not hesitate to go with Proton. I was never happy with ExpressVPN anyway because it did not play nice with my antivirus. I contacted ExpressVPN support several times about it, but it never resolved, so I moved on. I use Proton VPN in the USA (also in Western Europe a couple of times per year) and it works. I much prefer it over ExpressVPN, and Proton does not conflict with my antivirus. Best of luck regardless of what you decide to go with.
it works! fastest I have ever seen.
Well, they won’t help catch pedo’s, but they will can you for downloading torrents
It’s does increase connectivity speeds, almost zero ads, I mean just gone. Sorry ready to use. I got the paid version. And there’s like 3000 connected in us so very easy to bypass these new porn restrictions. Works great on open btw. Blocks ask ad’s what. I’ve noticed redirect sites sometimes, I guess, get thrown into the ad block cause I the ave to reload or jump to a new place
“It just works” is a great endorsement indeed. Fast torrents, streaming video, moderate NAT, ikev2 and OpenVPN support - nothing to complain about really. Use their app or don’t it’s up to you.
I’ve been please with the VPN paid service here in the USA. Performance is excellent and reliable. There are a few servers I bounce between but always make out well. No issues.
