I’m looking to get a feel for if this is impacting many people or if I’m just getting fucked specifically on this - when I try to play online in T8 I’m seeing 300-350 ping to people I’ve had no issues playing in other games and I can’t get any matches in queue due to poor connection quality. During the first 2-3 hours of release I had a few matches with one friend, but they’re now getting 300 ping to me.
I’m not inclined to believe it’s my connection as I’ve played T7, SF6, Granblue with these people and still get 40-50 ping. Other things of note include no steam friends list, it shows as empty despite other friends being online.
I’ve reached out to Bandai Namco and I’m waiting for a response, but I just really wanna play the game and learn along with everyone else, so I’m trying to do my own troubleshooting in the mean time. Open to any suggestions if anyone has any!
I am having the same issues.
Had to use my VPN to set my location to Sydney. Then I got matches easily. Using mudfish, so only costs about 5 cents for an hours playtime. Not ideal, but not horrible.
If I had to guess it might be the same issue I had with FFXIV. My ISP had the Aussie server provider as a lower tier provider (something like that). When I checked the routing it was going from Aus to Japan and back.
It might just be an ISP issue. The game is peer 2 peer so it shouldn’t be an issue, but might be the matchmaking server, or their authentication servers are causing issues.
Did you buy the game directly from steam or did you buy a code?
I also have the same problem, impossible to find matches with less than 300ms. I’m quite pessimistic about this subject, as they say that in CBT it was also the same thing.
I also have mudfish vpn, how do you set your location? Tekken 8 is nowhere in the equip item list.
Have to use full VPN mode
It’s on the top bar under I think it was settings and then server.
Then one of the options is full VPN.
Set it to whatever is close to you, I used gcore lab in Sydney.
Just be aware that unlike equipping an item, this will route all traffic, and downloads through mudfish. So make sure to close anything that auto updates, Dropbox, windows updates, steam downloads, all that crap, when you are playing, then turn it off when you are done.
Im having the same issue as that. All my matches are shown as above 300ms. Ive tried VPN and reinstalling and changing DNS and nothing seems to work. The other people who bought it directly from the steam store are in America region somehow and im in Asia. My friend who bought a key with me from a different seller gets 4 bars but the other people are getting 5 bars consistently. I’ve contacted bamco and didnt really receive any updates yet
Just so I can check on my end - how are you confirming that you’re in the Asia region? Is there somewhere I can also check this?
When you join a session with a friend it shows up on the loading screen
Unfortunately, matchmaking is still the same for me regardless of using vpn. So many failed matches still. For comparison, i can find matches rather quickly on granblue rising despite the lower player count. Tekken is fun though so I will try to find other solutions in the meantime.
Just an update, I used a different mudfish node in my own country and it kinda works! I don’t get the connection did not meet requirements error anymore. I will update if I encounter the error again.
You could also see it from what region is your recommended one from the lounge. If you go to ranked or online from main menu it seems to just match you from the recommended region
Ah, interesting- Just checked then, but mine shows the correct region of Oceania, so maybe a little different there.
Mine is correct too im in asia but the other people are also living in asia and i dont really know why all of them are getting put in america 1 and still getting 20 ping
Tekken is getting your region from your windows setting so for example if on your windows your region is USA you will be put in America region in game this is very weird. Nonetheless i am having same issue 300+ ping and the weird part is i played Tekken 8 as soon as it got released it was working fine but after they resolved the crashing server issue my ping is 300 + all the time
Ive tried changing regions and thing too and its still at 300 ping. At this point i dont really know what i havent tried to fix the issue. And it doesnt seem to be affecting too much people for them to take it seriously yet
