Really? Not that I’m going to, but I am curious.

If they can really access all that information? See what devices you are on? If they can see that while taking quiz/ exam on computer, you used your phone or tablet? What if I opened up porn or some other personal stuff can they see what it is?

My school is making us add a chrome extension called honorlock with a webcam and microphone so we don’t use other devices

I hate this shit. It’s such a violation of privacy. I didn’t know they could view all that information on Canvas. I have to use Respondus Lockdown for a few of my classes and it sucks

What’s your question?

People with the correct canvas powers can see the browser and IP address (IP address shows location, but can be easily goofed). They cannot necessarily tell the device, but there are a lot of clues that they may have based on other collected data (including if it was accessed from the mobile app).

They cannot see what you open in a new tab, but they will be able to see that you left the testing page, and will likely assume it was to cheat if it is for any significant length of time.

if you are taking an exam on the computer, they couldn’t see if you accessed something on another device.

Any web site can get the information that they mention. However, you can also hide much of that information by using a browser plugin or VPN that’s designed to improve privacy.

this is so off topic but it’s nice to see a fellow emory person!

Unless you access canvas from another device (at least you could last semester- I was a TA for an online course and this came up as an issue). Download all the stuff or take photos first.
