Hello:
A lot of software companies offer free trials of 7 - 30 days. So I’m wondering if someone using a VPN could (theoretically speaking of course) just keep logging in from various locations if they wanted to extend things? Thanks

huh? Trials go by account, not by location. You’d have to keep creating new accounts, but you don’t need a VPN for that.
you need to create an email address each time. don’t use the same one.
If something is useful then please reward them with your patronage and don’t abuse their good will. The world needs more good people.
I thought perhaps some of these companies ala also track your IP log in location, regardless of whatever account you may be using? Maybe not
Hmmmm… when you see someone sampling their food product in a Costco or grocery store, is that “good will?” Or is it actually a time-testing sales technique: Giving away a sample in hopes someone will like it enough to BUY IT
Maybe some companies, but it would require extra overhead on their behalf. Unless you pay for a static IP, then your public IP is rotated and can be re-assigned to anyone. So they’d have to factor that in, then have some kind of lease time for the trial block so that it unblocks the IP after X amount of time. Much more complicated than just saying each account gets 1 trial for X amount of days.
