Anybody know a VPN company that is publicly traded?
I don’t think there is any company that is a pure play on VPNs. Could be a holding company out there that owns one. Though, I don’t really see a VPN business as being good simply because the competition is immense and there really isn’t much to differentiate between them.
Ai just hacked their software…
No more VPN
If you’re willing to look at microcaps, there’s Alarum ALAR. Its product NetNut is a multi-purpose proxy where one of its applications is enterprise VPN.
There’s also much bigger companies like Cloudflare NET and ZScaler ZS with zero trust enterprise proxy solutions that are basically advanced VPNs. They connect users directly to different services instead of going through any central data center, which is faster and arguably more secure than a traditional enterprise VPN setup. You might consider looking more towards this companies providing that kind of decentralized architecture than a typical VPN for a more future-proof strategy.
(Disclaimer: I’m long ALAR and NET).

What made you choose ALAR and NET if you don’t mind me asking?
why alar started at $27k and now is at $22?
Hard to state briefly but NET has a lot going for it in multiple areas, all of which have long growth trajectories, that are interconnected and make it hard for competition to break in. CDN, edge processing, zero-trust IT infrastructure. They’ve been early to build traction and I think the “fourth cloud” meme is justified in this case.
ALAR is a much smaller speculative position for me. I can only say DYOR here because it’s changed since I l bought it a few years ago and I’m not up to date beyond the basic features of NetNut.
So there is ALAR, DYOR, NET, and CDN. NET is the more safe bet based on what you’re saying
i love your analysis… i do see cloudflare grow as it seems to have a low market cap right now but it does have a huge competition from akami, azure, aws which offers the same services although cloudflare is a huge player in the field indeed and its stock doesn’t show it so far
another question regardless as you seems pretty knowledgeable in stock related stuff,
how is LUMN (NYSE) still publicly traded if it was acquired?
Lumen Technologies EMEA was acquired by Colt Technology Services for $1.8b USD
DYOR = Do your own research Not a ticker.
NET is arguably lower risk lower reward as a much bigger stock. Safe would be an overstatement on its current multiple.
Okay, I understand, I need to do my own research on NET. Are you a long term in investor or a trader?
