Last year I went for NordVPN as many reviews said it is faster than ProtonVPN. Few days ago Proton has a 1€ offer, while my Nord subscription is ending soon. So I took this chance to compare (paid) versions from both by myself.
I find Proton’s speed is really impressive. Nord’s download speed is only 31% of when without VPN, while Proton’s is 87%. These results based on Germany’s servers.
ProtonVPN has massively improved over the last few years, my experience with NordVPN speeds are good and the fact that Proton can keep up with them and more often than not surpassing them is awesome
Thing if person A says Nord is faster than Proton then it may be for "them"but maybe not for you. When you are shopping for a VPN, it is best to try a month to see which one works for you because at the end of the day, we are not going to have tye same results. Proton may be fast for someone while let’s say Mullvad or any other may be faster for them
I can get 800mbps out of my 1gbps connection with nordlynx. Proton gets me maybe 3-400 currently. I wish it was faster for me because port forwarding would be very nice to have.
Welcom to Proton yes I also had very sluggish performance with Nord mainly using UK servers so after cancelling the trial after nearly 1 month I decided to try Proton and haven’t looked back. I’ve been with Proton for nearly 5 months now with 0 problems with UK servers.
Both ProtonVPN and NordVPN have their strengths and weaknesses. While ProtonVPN is praised for its solid performance and privacy features, some users find NordVPN’s marketing strategies misleading and its interface lacking in smoothness and uniqueness. Despite NordVPN’s efforts to secure top rankings through paid reviews, some users face performance issues like interface lagging on both Android and Windows platforms. Ultimately, user preference will determine the “champion” between the two VPN providers.
I’m lucky to get half of my Internet speed lately. I used to get much higher speeds. Seems to have dropped about the same time Protonvpn name started showing up on speed and leak test sites. My prescription is almost up so I will probably try Surfshark for a while
