PIA iPhone app won't let traffic through on home wifi

Hi,

I’ve been using PIA on my iPhone for years now without running into any problems, but recently, it has started acting up. Whenever I try to connect on my home wifi, it will connect to the service, an IP will be handed out and the VPN symbol will show, but after that, no more traffic. Nothing will load for me. It’s like internet traffic stops the second PIA is connected. No issues on my computer.

Does anyone have an idea how to fix that?

EDIT: It appears my app changed the protocols from WireGuard to IPSec(IKEV2) which caused the issue.

Fix: Menu > Settings > Protocols > Protocol Selection and select WireGuard.

1st… do you use the app elsewhere on another network successfully?

2nd… is this a new home network setup? New mesh router? New ISP? Go from Cable to Fiber?

Not sure if you are having the same issue but this post helped me. https://reddit.com/r/PrivateInternetAccess/s/3e3XjDhcJD

Basically, the app switched the default protocol from WireGuard to IPSec(IKEV2) and switching back fixed it for me.

Thank you for this post! This saved me.

Yes, it works on other networks. I have changed nothing network-wise.

That fixes it! Thanks a lot!

At least I’m not alone. Boohoo

Same issue here. Re-install didn’t fix the issue.

Who is your provider? I doubt that they have recently decided to block a known VPN provider service but it is possible. Only other advice I can offer is to try it from another device on your home network if you have one. A second phone or a home PC and see if they problem is duplicated. If it is then it is either they are purposefully blocking it or your/their modem/router has something blocking the traffic.

That was my issue as well! Thank you kindly!

Other devices (both iPhones and Windows PCs) do not encounter this problem. It’s my iPhone alone.

I would try to uninstall and reinstall on the iPhone. iOS is nice in that it does cleanly removes be apps so you should get a fresh clean install so if something is misconfigured or corrupted it should get fixed

Unfortunately, it didn’t fix it for me.
