If my iPad is inactive for a few minutes, PIA disconnects but I can’t get any internet until I either close the app or reconnect to VPN location. This happens no matter what location I am using. Been happening for a couple of months.
I had the same problem and fixed it by uninstalling and reinstalling the PIA app.
I would try the Wireguard protocol, I think the default protocol in the app used to be OpenVPN, Wireguard is faster connecting and disconnecting.
Have you tried to see if the kill switch is on/off? Maybe try keeping it off for a time being and see? I’m just throwing out a suggestion here.
It’s kill switch - pia vpn feature: the kill switch disconnects you from the internet if your VPN connection drops to ensure that your real IP isn’t leaked online.
I’ll give it a go and let you know.
Ok - it was on so I switched it off - fingers crossed!
I think you’re right I switched it off and so far no disconnection. It’s a feature not a bug. So now I’m asking myself am I better off allowing it to kill the connection.
Nope, that didn’t fix it.
And also like malcarada said, use wireguard, it’s much more reliable, better and it doesn’t disconnect the internet when the device is inactive.
