Opera VPN extremely slow

I’ve been using the VPN and for the past few days its been extremely slow, using optimal and Europe locations.

also unrelated to the VPN right clicking accidentally click the option its closest to when it open the right click menu.

It’s normal for the built-in VPN to be slow.

Regular Opera or Opera GX or Opera Crypto? Windows or macOS or Linux or ChromeOS? What version of that OS and what version of that Opera?

Right-clicking on a blank spot on a web page for example? That single right click gets invoked again on the item near the cursor when the context menu appears?

It didn’t used t be this slow, like it takes minutes to load a web search and is too slow for googles captcha to function. I’ve started using proton’s free VPN instead.

Is it worth upgrading to the paid Opera VPN? I try and watch sports via the free VPN, and get constant stuttering.

Opera One(version: 102.0.4880.46) (x86_64)Opera is up to date
System:macOS Version 10.13.6.

Yeah. When I right right click the closest option on the context menu is selected eg. open in workplace or add link to bookmarks, it’s rather annoying.

I tested it for 6 months when it first came out. It worked and was faster (maybe in the 50Mbps range, I forget), but note that it didn’t have an option to automatically start when Windows started and didn’t have an option to block all connections when the VPN was off or not connected to the VPN server. So, it was more of a “manually start it when you want to use it” it type of thing.

Also, a lot of users have trouble installing it and have to contact a support email in one of the posts at https://support-vpn-pro.opera.com/hc/en-us to get it installed. But, once done, it does work.

Also note that while the paid Opera VPN is system-wide, unless things have changed, you can’t really use the VPN settings in Windows to control it. You have to control it with its systray icon (limited functionality) or inside Opera via the VPN badge in Opera’s settings.

That’s all I can remember at the moment. Not sure what has changed, if anything.

There’s a new version (102.0.4880.70), but according to https://blogs.opera.com/desktop/changelog-for-102/, it probably won’t fix your issue anyway. 102.0.4880.70 has a crash bug when uploading files btw.

I don’t have macOS to test, but you can file a bug at https://opera.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portal/9/group/11/create/6 with details. Attaching a video to the bug might help in this case too.

If you do file a bug, please post the bug number here.

Many thanks for that
