Opera look in KDE

I like Opera for many things:

  • built-in VPN (which allows me to e.g. use some Russian web pages blocked in Ukraine)
  • built-in AdBlock
  • performance
  • sidebar with messengers (though I miss Viber and Skype)
  • Spaces
  • ability to attach files from clipboard/recent

That it why I use it both on Windows and Linux (but not on Android, where I prefer Chrome).

However, there is some annoyance in Linux: in KDE, the window decoration and the file open/save dialogs are alien (GTK?) and inconvenient: no favorite paths, no recent files etc. Maybe someone knows how to fix that…

EDIT: I have managed to solve the problem with open/save dialogs by installing kdialog. Strangely enough, this simple solution is not too visible…

It is possible to change from the horrible Gnome to the KDE file picker

This is for Firefox. I’m sure there’s a way to do it for Opera/Chromium too

You shouldn’t use opera vpn. They probably sell your data

Thanks! Doesn’t work with Opera, however.

But I have managed to solve the problem installing kdialog, bingo!

Do you have any proof of this?

I found article about it, post here - https://old.reddit.com/r/VPN_help/comments/js9izl/vpns_can_leak_your_data_here_are_the_16_insecure/

The link you gave says nothing about Opera. Neither the link https://thebestvpn.com/vpn-leak-test/ under the post . Only a comment to that article leads to the true story, https://thebestvpn.com/reviews/opera-vpn/. Which in turn says nothing about Opera selling my data. Chrome extension leaks? Turn off your extensions while working with VPN.

In fact, as I wrote, I use this VPN just occasionally to get access to some sites which I cannot access normally, mainly, the Yandex translator service and Kinopoisk (Russian IMDB). If I were using VPN for my privacy and security, then I would go for some paid VPNs.

As you prefer! But I always think if you don’t pay for the product you are the product
