Recently purchased NordVPN to use with my PS5. I only have a laptop with no ethernet ports, only 1 USB port that supports an Ethernet adaptor. I tried running an Ethernet cable to my laptop (using Ethernet to USB adaptor) from the router and then mobile hotspot from my laptop to my PS5 however I could not get an internet connection on the PS5. I enabled sharing to the hotspot connection through the control panel but still nothing. Do I need a USB splitter so I can run another Ethernet cable (again using adaptor) to the PS5 rather than hotspot?
Just running a cable to your ps5 from your laptop won’t do what you’re expecting, for that you would need to set up Internet Connection Sharing with your laptop plugged in to the router and your ps5 connected via wifi to your laptop. This is the same as the hotspot.
If you are trying to go wired to your PS5 because you consider it would have better performance, bear in mind that your laptop would be connected via wifi anyway, so whether the ps5 is on wifi or the laptop is on wifi there will be no performance difference.
The better option, if possible, is to do it on your router, which will serve your whole network.
