I have never been able to get a vpn to run on McDonald’s wifi. Phone or PC.
Does anyone else have this problem or is it just me?
They likely block the tcp/udp ports that vpns use
Works fine in my local one (Europe).
McDonald’s WiFi uses a captive portal system with specific network rules that typically block VPN connections.
You can try 1.1.1.1 app as “local” VPN. I’m using it for public Wi-Fi https://one.one.one.one/
Plain OpenVPN or Wireguard dont work. But there are working solutions like Tailscale etc.
Anything I can do about that?
Do you think some minimum wage gastronomy employee will be able to consult you regarding network policies?
You can still connect. You just can’t vpn…
use openvpn with tls-crypt and make sure your vpn provider has the port set to 443
it’ll look like any other web based traffic, and its highly unlikely they’ll block it unless its a super known vpn list
Stop going to McDonald’s.
