My relative just got this notification from Turbo VPN, a free VPN app. It litteraly translates to "hahaha", scariest shit I've ever seen lmfaoo

Only good one is proton vpn

Well I live in iran where you literally cannot buy anything from other countries + its a MASSIVE risk as you could pay (it costs a LOT here if you are able to do it) for blocked servers.

Yeah, but to be fair, they also have a paid version and incentivise using it.

That said, I’m really curious what Muta’s beef with it is. I know he’s aware of it because he’s mentioned it before, but lately has started saying he doesn’t fully trust any VPN implying something about Proton spooked him away from it.

Also orbot, if you consider it a vpn

i’ve been using cyberghost vpn for about 2 years now, no issues.

Proton just reeks of operation Ironside 2.0.

plus im pretty sure theyve handed data over to authorities in the past.

preferably tor browser, or orbot.
u dont really need vpns if u think they gonna hack you.

I think I’ve used an Onion Browser at school, just use your mobile data so your school can’t see it.

I think it’s due to the fact that India are forcing company’s to fork over data such as name, address, search history(while using the servers), and some other creepy shit. Plus the proton team has given away some user info that they got from their email client to the French authorities so there’s some broken trust and false advertising

Maybe I misunderstand you but is there something wrong with Proton VPN (I’m still looking for a VPN)

It routes your whole traffic trough for which is theoretically 6 vpns chained, yea it’s slow AF but it’s hard to trace if you have good opsec

Really, when? Any proof of that?

Ironside 2.0

Al what is this

Edit- I searched it, they say they don’t log as they are based in Switzerland

I use tor bcz I dont want my ISP to have my porn search history

Personally I think Proton VPN is fine. It’s what I use and it’s what I recommended to my associates when they asked me for VPN suggestions.

I was just curious why Mutahar stopped liking it, as it meets all his standards as far as I’m aware. Apparently the French government requested some user data from them and despite being based in Switzerland, they obliged. Now, I’m no lawyer much less a Swiss lawyer, but to my knowledge they had the right, due to their location to deny such a request and still remain in business. So the fact they decided to give info over, even if it’s just that of French users and only to the French government rubs a lot of people the wrong way.

Ironside was essentially a honeypot set up by the 5 eyes to catch organised crime. They sold “encrypted” smart phones through a company called ANOM, marketed towards criminals.

I admittedly dont have anything solid to back up my opinion other than just a feeling. If it does what it says on the box, thats awesome, but I’d still air on the side of caution.

If you need 100% certainty that your message wont be read by any third party its always best to use your own keys in conjunction with whatever encryption protocol Proton uses.

This video explains it well https://youtu.be/IeXaYR4ed9c

clever. they just have what websites you watch though.

Wouldn’t https only allow the isp to see the domain not the full address or am I mistaken?

Change your DNS it doesn’t change your IP but it hides your traffick from your ISP.
