Legal issues with Stremio in Spain without a VPN

Is there any legal issue with watching torrented movies on Stremio in Spain? Could my internet provider (Movistar) find out being that I am not downloading anything myself? Did anybody from Spain have any issues or heard about someone having issues?

I do have a VPN subscription at CyberGhost but I cannot use it on my smart TV because the moment I open other app (like Stremio) the VPN app quits… I don’t know why, but it doesn’t work in the background the way it does on any other device, which leaves me with no VPN on TV.

get a RealDebrid account, generate the token, and configure it into to your stremio. RealDebrid is 100x faster loading and adding it to stremio (torrentio) acts like a vpn.

I have been torrenting in spain for 20yrs. No you don’t need one. Rd isn’t required. But will work better 16e for 6 months is worth it

If you use real-debrid (and you should) then it acts as a vpn in itself. Since I’ve started using it in the United States I’ve never received a violation email.

Thank you! This is exactly what I wanted to know. So RD comes with some benefits, but is not necessary in Spain in order to watch the movies.

Why would I get other service that acts as a VPN when I already have one?

Comes with incredible benefits. Torrented my whole life, I will NEVER go back to torrent now I know about RealDebrid. It’s secure, anonymous , lightning fast (almost the same as streaming from Netflix or similar) and you find almost every movie, old or new, even the ones with little or no seeds (at the same speed)

There are a few advantages to real debrid. It’s better for streaming because it’s directly downloading from RD’s high speed servers rather than P2P through a vpn. This is especially important for torrents that don’t have many seeders, since those will be difficult to stream without buffering with a vpn. You just bind it to your stremio account, and it will work on any device, so you don’t have to worry about downloading a vpn to your tv. It’s also cheaper than most vpns (~$30 per year) so unless you also need a vpn for other things it will probably be cheaper overall.

because real-debrid is more than just that, it caches torrents on their server and you stream it from there. both stupid fast and keeping you hidden. if a torrent is already loaded on their server then you don’t have to wait for it to “download” on their server.

i dont use any other vpn in conjunction with real-debrid

For Stremio use only though, does it make any difference? When I watch the streamed content only and not downloading it, because I never use torrents in any other situation.

you still wouldn’t be downloading it, you may not even notice it.

i havent been without real debrid in maybe 5 years. The big selling point for me was quality of streams (up to 4k) and availability of links.

with torrentio (youd use real debrid here) there is an option to prioritize torrents with Spanish audio (both Spain and Latin American options)

EDIT: links probably go past 4k but my tv is only 1080p so I ignore anything more than that

So if either way I’m not downloading it, why not using it with the torrentio addon as it is? I have no issue with the availability of links or quality.

Are any supersampling benefits of watching 4k content on your TV noticeable enough to really be worth it? Unless perhaps your TV is quite large? My TV is only 1080p too and not particularly large for my setup so I don’t bother with 4k and its larger file sizes. Perhaps if I was using a 1080p projector on a large screen I might, but it would still be a maybe.

well if you are using torrentio without it you are downloading/streaming them from torrents directly.

I didint know you could use it without RD, ive never tried. but then in your case maybe the benefit is just speed?

but ive had it going on my phone and two tvs using the same debrid token
