I’m going overseas next week for a bit. Might be a silly question but I can still open and shake my phone to keep the streak right?
I’ve been able to shake no problem, just lost the ability to purchase so ended up back to 21 satoshi a day, but the streak survived vacation.
I was in Japan a year and a half ago. No issues shaking. Time resets at 12 am Eastern though…
I went to the states 2 weeks ago for the weekend and was able to shake like normal.
It will work I did it last year, but for some reason shakepay logged me and a bunch of.people out randomly I couldn’t get back in because I wasn’t getting SMS (I was so close to 365 days) I emailed support and never heard back.
So make sure you have 2FA setup not sms
Make sure that your flight travel time including the timezone shifts don’t cause you to miss a day. For example, flying halfway around the world can be a 12 hour time zone shift in addition to a 20 hour flight. Just be sure to shake at every opportunity. Use the wifi at connection points if you can. As someone pointed out, the timer resets at midnight Eastern Standard Time.
I’m currently in South Korea, shaking is do-able. Making Bitcoin purchases to keep your account active has to be done with a canadian VPN connection if you don’t use your ShakePay card.
So what’s the solution to keeping “active” status if I’m going out of the country for more than a week? Would it be to set up recurring buys and then shaking everyday like normal? Or would the recurring buys not work while out of the country?
Shaking works. I just found that I couldn’t buy or set up a recurring buy while out of country. Pre-existing recurring buys still went through though.
I’ve been shaking away in Europe for the last 3 months with no issues.
Apparently you can’t make a buy from outside of Canada, but I had a recurring buy setup and I just keep my account funded from here no problem.
Use a vpn. I used Solar VPN in Mexico
Not the internet in Canada only works in Canada so you can’t shake outside of Canada
Did it in Mexico 2yrs in a row no prob. You can’t sign up to a Shakepay account if you’re not Canadian but other than that you’re goodie. Don’t forget it’s East Coast standard time.
Works everywhere, just need to be connected to the internet. shaking overseas as well!! Keep shaking mate!
I went on a cruise at the beginning of February, never missed a beat. Even continued my automatic daily purchases of Bitcoin.

I had the same silly question when I went to Japan last year. Short answer is yes, you can still open and shake. If you have a phone reminder to shake, make sure that time is updated to your destination’s local time what 12am EST will be.
Just use a VPN and connect anywhere in Canada to keep it active!

You don’t need a VPN to shake… but you do if you wish to purchase/sell. Automated buys will execute normally without a VPN.
