Issues With Keepsolid VPN Unlimited Torrenting

anyone else facing issues with keepsolid vpn unlimited torrenting?

everything was working fine till few days ago but now torrents are not able to connect to the private trackers (trackers are online so no issue from the tracker).

normal internet traffic works, the connection to the vpn servers works but all the trackers remains unreachable.

have tried this with keepsolid windows client & with other linux dockers which were working fine till recently.

it seems to be an issue on server end and I guess something to do with traffic not being forwarded to the tracker? tried it with OpenVPN & wireguard configs but get “skipping tracker announce (unreachable)” errors in qbittorrent.

contacted their support but they say everything is fine at their end.

UPDATE: torrents seem to be working now. Thanks to everyone who followed up with keepsolid support, that seems to have pushed them to fix the issue.

I face the same issues.

I checked on this now. It is dead. I tested it on the Arch Linux torrent.

Status is reported as the following, “Errored: An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions”.

I have no issue on my own network with the torrent.

When did it last work?

I filed a ticket with them and also mentioned this thread in the ticket. I’ll update if/when things change.

Similar issue. I know people are keen just to say it’s a bad VPN, but most of the time I’m able to saturate a 250mbps link. Just this occasional issue where every tracker stops working and I can’t upload. I have a ticket in with them as well.

Has anyone here with BitTorrent issues come right?

I have revisited this, and I am not connecting at all. I am updated to the new client version 9.3.1 and nothing changed. I can only think that something is not set up right on their side, or there are blocks not being communicated.

I contacted their support, and they seem sure that everything is in working order. I checked again, and everything worked as it should, but then it all died again. Strange.

There’s some concern to be had about VPNUnlimited. It’s pinging all of these servers, and I’m not even connected:

I don’t get it how you can get this to work. It’s been years since i was able to torrent anything with VPN Unlimited. It is a great VPN for my other needs but if i casually sometimes want to torrent anything none of their torrent servers work. Be it that one in France or Romania it never moves anything. Mind you i torrent public legal Linux .iso files as test. Should be plenty of seeds and peers but nope. Categorically fails.

It’s been months since I had a connection problem with this VPN!
The account is lifetime and I have been using it for years without any issues.
I can barely connect to any random server I choose and can’t open pages with it, but it happens that I connect to a server and download some torrents, too. So the issue is occasional.

I have emailed them, and they told me to use a certain protocol and go around on random servers, then if that protocol doesn’t work, change it to another. I already am using optimal which should do protocol changes behind the scenes, so I’m not sure why they are asking me this (maybe it’s a written instruction some tech blindly read to me to follow!)

I was happy with their VPN service and don’t want to change it!

I have a lifetime subscription to keepsolid

Please email keepsolid support about the issue. I asked them and they said no-one else has complained.

It’s been down probably about 8-10 days. Please email keepsolid support about the issue. I asked them and they said no-one else has complained. Maybe then they’ll try fixing it.

Shortly after filling the ticket, I started to see peer connections on my torrents. Either they reset something or I just wasn’t patient enough.

for me, it’s working as of now. maybe they’re doing some maintenance so its down intermittently?

My Torrenting works all of the time. I almost always use the France server. The Romanian one seems slower than France, but that works too for me.

Used to work great but the last year has been iffy and now almost doesn’t work at all

lifetime subscriptions are never worth it
each has its own issues and even the best
FastestVpn
still leaks your dns requests and has a bad kill switch
if you really wanna have what feels like a lifetime subscription
put some money in privacy.com virtual credit card (theyre trustworthy, dw)
and pay for a good vpn with it, you can let it recur and forget about it, the best vpn, unbeatable for its price
Private Internet Access only charges 2 dollars a month if you commit to the three year plan, put enough in for a couple charges and for upwards of a decade you can forget about any recurrence

It is not the first time that this is happening. The issue could reside with the client itself. Which version of their software do you use? Their standalone software version is currently v9.3.1 and the one on the Windows Store is v9.3.0. I have it manually configured on a seperate device, but I am not that available to test it right now.

My best guess is, if they say nothing is wrong, then the issue is with the software. Try the standalone version, if it works it is because they fixed a “bug”.

This morning, torrents are still hit-and-miss. Some that are very new (like an hour old) seem to be working, but anything older than that (10-12 hours old) seem to be failing…

Yeah, I was using the windows store version, and tried the standalone and it’s fixed with standalone.
