You wrote all that while having no clue what you are talking about
Instead you are just able to pick which servers you are connecting to.
False.
but it’s all tied to region, not skill level.
False
and that’s why someone would VPN to say, Oceania servers. “I bet everyone in this part of the world isn’t as good as where I’m from.”
False
but your connection will be so much worse
False
. You’re guaranteed to lag all over the place if VPNing super far away.
False
I’m not sure we agree.
Played a couple of games with my friend when he was in the US, so my ping or his would be 120 depending on where the servers got placed. Honestly, you don’t notice a difference as long as it’s a good and steady connection. Wouldn’t be able to discern it from a 12ms game if I’m honest. COD has a very good network interpolation tech though, made by Infinity Ward I believe, for this reason. So players with bad gear or rural location isn’t at a disadvantage.
But as you can imagine, the downside is that the server guesses a lot, so if you are 10ms to the server and duck and weave, and a sniper is 120ms to the server, the server has to just assume your position a lot of the time, and the sniper will get an easier shot. So depending on the battle you are in I would say it’s often advantage even to have high ping.
Just had a game with no vpn or anything getting to a 90-130ms server, and ended up with 9(14) kills and 3rd place in duo, so who the hell knows.
To be honest, if I ever queue up with my friends who are using a VPN my ping doesn’t ever seem to be much different? Maybe slightly higher than normal but never more than about 30 m/s or so
They do not use standard vpn configurations. They trick the game into skipping the sbmm step through configuration files. Your game will think you are in Brazil but give you lobbies with your normal ping.
I mean, I think it’s safe to say that if people are using it now, in non-ranked game modes than they absolutely will use it when ranked comes out.
I live in Colorado. The closest servers are in Utah and Texas… respectively, I get 28 ms and 32 ms of latency on these servers, which isn’t great tbh.
Still, the game randomly throws me on the East Coast all the time. Without a VPN, my ping is usually in the 50s and 60s. I bought a VPN, not for bot lobbies, but to guarantee that I am connecting to those Utah and Texas servers.
Still, I am always one of the highest ping players in my lobbies. Any 10v10 multiplayer game I load up, and I check latency on the scoreboard, I am always in the bottom 5/20 in terms of worst latency in the lobby.
I bought a VPN, mot to cheat, but just to get better connection to servers. I still have some of the worst connection in my lobbies, but it’s better.
Dudes who live in Houston or Salt Lake (where those servers physically exist) are still at such a fucking advantage when playing against me with their <5 ping. They have a full 20ms advantage over me every single gunfight… which seriously translates into the game in a noticeable way.
Is that unethical???

Is that cheating of me? Seriously? You have got to have a more nuanced opinion of things lmao
They’re cheating our experience anyways. No issue w it

Not sure why you’re getting downvoted. My pleasure!
Well…that 4 Ms ping is bullshit …even if you live next door to the server your isp still needs to hop the connection through one or more nodes. Latency meter in warzone is an absolute lie…always was! Also…even if that actually happened the advantage between 4 and 32 is residual and almost impossible to notice except for extreme close calls. So if you consider this fair/unfair then everyone is cheating because in a lobby of 100 we don’t all have the same connection therefore not fair. this is why I think legacy matchmaking is the best…the only criterias should be ping to server and time to match. this would make all lobbies absolutely random in skill, instead we have this absolute crap that prioritizes skill based algorithm instead of connection and then half the lobby gets fucked and everyone has a shit experience…
No lag vpn doesn’t do shit it’s literally a scam
That’s not a VPN. A VPN is a virtual private network… does what above guy said and secures your traffic, nothing more streamers are doing the same shit Activision is and you’re buying it. They 2 box.
This just isn’t true
Then why don’t you teach me how my fucking VPN works then buddy because I guess I’ve been using it wrong this whole time. Enlighten me, please
Okay this is the first time you are remotely disagreeing with me on anything of substance, other than when you said
“you get shit ping with no advantage”
Which feeds into what I was saying the whole fucking time. So now you see why I was confused.
Now explain to me why each of those pieces of info are wrong… because you are embarrassingly incorrect right now. Please
Interesting, thanks for the input!
100 ms is a huge different and you should 100,000% be able to feel that… look at my comment below to understand why I don’t wanna retype it all out.
Things like Nolagvpn is just fake, it’s not a real vpn. You just get into other european sweat lobbies.
