Internet does not work unless I have my VPN on

Hello, I have seen this problem in a post on here previously, but it was for Windows and there was no solution provided for a Mac. I have a VPN and a macbook air, and my internet will only work when I am connected to my VPN. All my other devices work fine with or without VPN, but now on my macbook I have to run the VPN 24/7 to be able to connect. The Kill Switch option is turned OFF.

You probably have Killswitch enabled on vpn. Turning off Killswitch will fix this.

I know you says it’s off. But maybe there is hidden Killswitch enabled.

Suggestion to delete the vpn app entirely, remove all files, and reinstall and during install ensure it’s off.

Thank you for this recommendation. Uninstalling the app and all related files and then reinstalling has seemed to work. I do wonder what exactly the issue was though. Because this problem did not exist for the first year I utilized the VPN, it only recently arose. Hopefully it won’t happen again!

The issue has already returned

It seems the app you are using maybe has a glitch that is enabling the killswitch in the background. Attpt to use a different APP, such as the OFFICIAL one. For example for Wireguard, use the Wiregaurd APP, not the provider one. For OpenVPN, use the official OpenVPN app, not the one from provider and download only their config.

Another thing to check is their .opvn file (config file). See if it includes any calls for Killswitch. Some VPN providers enable it in their config, which might override your settings.
