I’ve asked this in another sub reddit. But I’ll ask it here too. BTW it’s my first post here so bare with me. So, many of people from India playing on Middle East servers have been experiencing a significant increase in latency for quite some time now. Example: in Fortnite, the Middle East server (located in Bahrain) used to give me around 50-60ms ping. Now, it’s consistently hitting 168ms or higher. It seems the traffic is being re-routed through Singapore before reaching Bahrain, causing this drastic increase.
The situation is further complicated by recent actions from the imbecile Indian government targeting VPN companies. Many major VPN providers have pulled out of the country as a result. I previously used a workaround involving WireGuard + Cloudflare Warp to mitigate the routing issue, but since November 1st, major Indian ISPs appear to have blocked Cloudflare Warp, due to government pressure. So, my workaround no longer works…
Are there any alternative workarounds to get better ping on Middle East servers from India? Will editing warp endpoint in wgcf file can divert traffic to somewhere else but Singapore? I need options…
The only game you are allowed to play is what paw paw says you should play
Jokes aside, if you are willing to shell out some money, you can rent a vps in the Middle East and setup a wireguard server. Make sure you test the number of hops to the server, the lesser the better
Windscribe still have their physical servers in India (they would leave if the Indian government seize their servers). Good news is that VPNs are not banned in India (yet).
I would recommend getting ProtonVPN (not the free tier) and give it try. They have pretty great servers list with less ping!
If you would like me to test any specific locations let me know, I’ve both Proton and Windscribe as of now
I tried VPN Jantit free wireguard server from Bahrain. It reduced ping to normal 50 ms but God help me the server bandwidth is only 1 megabytes/s which is totally crap. But their Bahrain server is the only server which works. I tried any other nearby country and ping is still awful…
You could try other vpn providers or setup your own vpn server. It costs about $10 a month and some networking knowledge to setup your own. You will find several tutorials on the internet
Yes sure. But one thing I don’t understand that how come it only lowers down latency when I choose Bahrain server? And not any other country around it?
Hard to say. Could be that the Bahrain server has less number of hops compared to other servers. You can run tracert to find out. Also could be the server is not as loaded. Or a combination of them
