I have been wrestling with the PIA Chrome Extension for months not being able to get it to consistently work nor even get a VPN IP to show up ; after many months of contacting PIA over and over again and never being able to come to a conclusive fix i decided to go over to the Xfinity side of things i tried a hard reset of my router and it didn’t work but i then tried connecting to a different network and the extension started working on that network i then went to my gateway website and saw no firewall issues but then after awhile i noticed there was a separate firewall on my Xfinity account called “Advanced Security” and it had “protected” me from “38 threats” over the last 7 days all coming from the PIA Proxy Severs after allowing the connection the extension started working but allowing only allows it for 1 hour and you have to allow it server by server and they don’t always update the site in real time as they block the connection so i just outright disabled advanced security and now the extension works fine. Here is a screenshot of all the logged blocking of the PIA proxy connections from my desktop.
Man learn to use some punctuation lol. That was a slog to read through. Glad to hear you made progress in diagnosing the issue.
If you would still like a firewall, you can run something like PfSense or OpnSense flashed to something compatible with it. That should still give you the ability to control the inward and outward flow of traffic on your network without having to rely on Comcast’s “advanced” security.
Something happened about 3:30 US eastern time, I cant connect to any of PIA’s servers. I just use the browser app and have been unable to connect anywhere in the world. Yet the site says theres no problems.
Are you using Xfinity gateway equipment? How do you access that webpage you showed a screenshot of?
You have to sign into your Xfinity account then go to Xfinity xFi under your Internet Services
I think they are on the customer web portal.
