How to Block a Domain While Using a VPN?

Hi everyone,

I need some advice regarding VPN and domain blocking. I use software from Overloud (pirated versions, to be transparent), and for the plugins to work correctly, I need to block the domain overloud.com on my PC.

The problem is that when I enable my VPN, the domain blocking seems to be bypassed. As a result, the plugins check the license, and they switch to demo mode.

Is there a way to set up my system so that overloud.com stays blocked even when my VPN is active? I’d appreciate any tips or step-by-step instructions on how to fix this.

P.S. I use the Hiddify VPN

Thanks in advance!

Try adding it to your host file.

To block a domain while using a VPN, you can try the following methods:

  1. Modify your system’s hosts file: You can add the domain (overloud.com) to the hosts file on your computer, redirecting it to a non-existent IP (like 127.0.0.1). This would block the domain even if the VPN is on.
  2. Firewall rules: Another method is to set up a custom firewall rule that blocks access to the domain. This will enforce the block regardless of your VPN.
  3. Split tunneling (if supported by your VPN): Some VPNs allow you to configure split tunneling, which lets you route specific apps through the VPN while keeping others (like the domain blocker) outside of it.

You can maybe install a browser extension like uBlock Origin or AdBlock Plus, then add the domain to its blocklist:

  • Go to the extension’s settings.
  • Add the domain (e.g., example.com) to the block/deny list
