How is the built-in VPN?

I haven’t turned on the built-in VPN, but Amazon’s Survey App wants me to for some of the functionality and I don’t trust Google or Amazon enough to turn it on.

I feel like it would just make things worse given how the user experience for both have declined precipitously

The idea behind a VPN is keeping your activities private. Usually accomplished by routing your traffic through the network of a company whose financial incentives align with keeping those activities private. Using Amazon’s VPN is like Harry Potter handing Voldemort his itinerary.

This is Amazon’s vpn for tracking ad usage for like $10/mo?

It’s not a built in vpn, it’s Amazon’s vpn that you route all your traffic too.

Don’t do it, vpns are good but only ever connect to your own, a reputable vpn service or a workplaces vpn.

The android “built in” vpn is just networking and connection abilities, not a vpn itself.that by definition is a remote network you are connecting to.

From what I understand, built in VPNs store all of your data, doesn’t have strong security features (such as a kill switch), and has uncertain encryption and protocols, it would be very unsafe to use this type of VPN.

Because of the risk to your privacy, I’d advise you to use a safe and secure VPN instead.

Built in? Android doesn’t have a built in VPN. I’d be very suspicious of whatever it is you’re using.

I found VPN far more a hindrance than a help. Many sites I visit were inaccessible unless I turned it off. Then having to switch back and forth? Pshaww. I don’t have anything worth hacking. I don’t really mind the algorithms bringing me data that I would be interested in. It beats the hell out of all the Viagra and penis enlargements that flooded my emails before the algorithms programs were improved.

yeah that’s the app. I didn’t do it. it’s a bridge too far for them/me

I am suspicious but not using it. I dug an inch further and basically everyone says it’s not worth it. Amazon wants me to have all my web traffic routed thru them so they can allegedly see what Amazon ads I see

The reward is $2/month in Amazon store credit which isn’t worth it. On black Friday they fucked me out of $50 (long story but bottom line is they fucked up an order and when I tried to reorder, the BF sale was over so they didn’t honor the sale price)

Happened 3 months ago and I’m still mad about it

This is not entirely true. The Pixel 7 just got a “built in” VPN with Google One.

Yeah there’s nothing built in about Amazon on Android. I’d just ignore everywhere this is.
