None of the legal VPNs you can buy here let you gain access to Russian Netflix and other steaming apps. Watching American TV and movies helped me learn English, so I want to do the same with Russian. Any ideas?
If you can’t watch it legal then watch it illegal. Rutracker.org + qbittorent
YouTube has channels of major Soviet movie studios with all Soviet times movies available for free, some may have English subtitles.
Netflix has some Russian shows (To the lake, method, etc) and you can pick Russian sound track.
Similarly, Amazon Prime Video has Russian shows and movies (life and Fate, Sofiya, etc.) and you can pick Russian sound track.
You can try other streaming services like Megogo, Ivi, Kinopoisk HD and Okko.
Download смотрим (smotrim) app it has several TV shows, movies and radio
Very simple.
First, most of this regulations doesn’t work.
Second, Russian communication overwatch just only began to regulate VPN.
That is not scary at all.
Netflix has a VPN checker of some sorts so they pretty much always know if you have one
It sucks alot
I’ve used this site for tv: https://tvteka.com/
On Youtube, you can find not only most Russian movies and TV series but also some dubbed Western films and TV shows too. For example, Russian dubbed Hell or High Water and Gravity Falls are both available for free on YouTube.
Pretty simple, actually. You need to buy a VPS from one of the Russian clouds (Yandex, megafon, mts, etc). Configure your own VPN (OpenVPN, whatever else) and use it to gain access to Russian streaming services. 99% for success. That’s almost impossible to block literally every IP address. So, streaming platforms usually block only well-known public VPN networks, such as StrongVPN, etc. They are not, in general, interested in tracking every individual user with their own VPN solution (unless you start providing this access to tons of other users). The cost of VPS is cheap. $5-10/mo. Not a big deal to satisfy your craving.
For sure, you still have to buy a subscription, and it still will be illegal in terms of copyright, but who cares)
And this solution is much more convenient than torrents.
Russian TV is suck. Better watch Russian YouTube channels
lmao imagine paying for vpn
Why do you need a VPN for Russian netflix? It can be bought and watched legally.
Getting torrents from blocked sources(rutracker is) is not illegal in Russia
I’d rather avoid that!
On YouTube, I was not having much luck finding films in Russian. But I searched “ссср филм” and some came up I have seen those selections, so I have just been looking for some more options
Thanks for your help! If you have a direct link to the channel you’re referring to, I’ll take it!
Спасибо! These look like good options to get more exposure to the language and culture since I am not there.
I’ll check those out too, спасибо!
Thanks! I looked for some, but most of the ones that come up are of Russian natives speaking in English, so it’s not exactly what I am looking for
Lmao. Imagine using a free VPN.
If a service is free, then you are the service.
I’m not aware of how to purchase Russian Netflix while in the US. Here, people purchase VPN services that allow them to change their location SO they can access Netflix from other countries, but a few countries (Russia included) apparently have regulations on international VPNs that don’t let ppl like me buy the VPN needed to access Netflix, unfortunately.
