Can anybody explain how a VPN makes you get a better lobby?
Plz, no reply like “everyone use it” or “this youtuber said so”.
Whats is the main theory here, plz people who knows how a VPN really works… if you are an idiot plz not respond, im not looking for opinions…
Mi main theory is that using VPN to queue in some regions will get you in that region lobby, and some regions are more competitive than others, but apart from that… is there any other way?
As a very brief overview:
COD matchmaking aims to put you in lobbies of people of broadly similar ability (SBMM) but will prioritise getting you into a game quickly over putting you into a lobby full of players of exactly the same ability.
This means that in jurisdictions with fewer players, because there are fewer players queuing for a new game at any one time, matchmaking is more likely to place you in lobbies with players of a variety of abilities instead of waiting for enough players of your ability.
So, when you are a high-KD in a highly-populated area, matchmaking will normally have no issue filling lobbies of your ability because it has a higher pool of players to pull from, many of whom will have a high KD.
Using a VPN to place your location in a less-populated area lessens the ability for matchmaking to put you in a lobby of similarly-abled players because there are likely to be fewer of them trying to join a game at the same time, and will instead prioritise getting you into a game quickly - which results in you often being placed into lower-KD games.
I have no confirmation if VPNs work or not. But I’ve made a post about this before:
I live in Alberta Canada. If I play Warzone 2.0 without a VPN, my ping ranges from 80-110 every game.
If I VPN to Montana or Oregon USA I get between 40-60ping.
How or why is this a thing?
I play on Xbox if that matters.
Great video as always yes sbmmoff works!
Lets say you’re top 30% player. Playing in your region (where there are a lot of people) at peak hours means that there are a lot of player to matchmake with and they are all around your skill.
VPN to a less populated area outside their peak hours and there are a lot fewer people to pick, so the gap in skill is bigger, and since your a top 30% player is this in your favor.
Swagg using a VPN? True or not that’s the talk in the Warzone streets.
So this is how we get bot lobby yes?
I really want to enjoy the game again so I’ll try it.
Does is not give you worse lobbies? Or at least supposedly
Ok u convinced me to buy it and i will leave a review here later.
I tried it for the first time on BO6 and ive tried the same VPN called surfshark and for actual multiplayer it doesn’t really change anything. You just get sbmm sweats from another region.
i just want to know how using a vpn affects people in your party?
Does it not give you worse lobbies? Or at least supposedly?
Short answer : People’s pc parts in Afghanistan are made out of vegetables and scrap metal from bullet casings. So when u roll in with the 5800x + 3080ti its comparable to an ex-SAS hitman being hired to take out a baby…just an unfair fight.
It doesn’t; don’t listen to these guys. All you’re gonna be getting here is people repeating hearsay that hasn’t been proven. This sub likes to accuse others of using VPNs as a way to discredit others having more consistent success at the game.
‘This person can’t possibly be winning that many more games and getting that many more kills than me! They must be using a VPN!’
There’s no tested, repeatable proof that VPNs give any advantage whatsoever. What you hear in this sub re: VPNs is pure copium.
In Theory:
you vpn to a region that is in a different time zone and has less players (in general and also because its not peak time). so the chances that you get a lobby that is filled up with players below your skill level when the spots in you skill range are occupied.
I am not sure how good that really works. I dont think a average player has any advantages in doing VPN. You need to have a Top 0.5 % K/D to profit of it i guess.
