I have Avira Pro and it comes with a VPN called Phantom Pro or something like that. qbittorent says “downloading metadata” and never starts. I’ve googled and read a lot of stuff on reddit about changing settings in the VPN to get it to work and my VPN has no settings that correspond to the advice of posters anywhere. I’ve tried everything that I could find and nothing has worked.
So my question is: Is there any standalone free or paid VPN that I can download that will just work with qbittorent without any (or minimal) fuss? And if there is minimal fuss, can somebody lay out the steps for me in the order I should do them.
Thank you very much.
It’s unclear online if your vpn allows torrenting in the first place, the vpn’s that come with anti-virus software tend to be crap. If you’re unable to get it to work, these vpn’s are recommended for qbit. You shouldn’t need to change any of the vpn settings, just these settings in qbit. Make sure you’re trying a file with many seeders.
I have the same issue here. Avira VPN doesn’t let you set anything. I’ve set up qBittorrent over and over correctly, even uninstalled everything and started with a fresh install, but nothing comes though.
Might try uBittorrent next, dunno.
lol nope. Here’s a pic of airvpn working correctly, qbit set to the network interface correctly and still stuck on “downloading metadata.” FML Any other ideas? Thanks again
I switched to Airvpn and it worked great with Chrome. Then I switched to Firefox and it stopped working until I changed to random port then it worked fine. I’m starting to think there’s no rhyme or reason about when torrents work or not.
I’ve sometimes gotten it unstuck by going to connection settings and randomizing port. You can also try https://www.whatismyip.net , grab the magnet link and add it to BitTorrent from file > add magnet and make sure the websites open address matches your vpns just to double check thats configured properly.
I tried the random thing, didn’t work. The hostname is the same on the VPN and what’smyIP. I copied the magnet link and pasted it in file>add torrent link but I don’t know what “make sure the websites open address matches your vpns” means. Sorry. I’m just about over this whole thing. It’s been more of a pain than it’s worth I’m afraid. Thanks for your help.
I uninstalled qbittorent and installed utorrent and it worked with no problem. Thanks again for your help, I don’t understand it but if utorrent works, I’m all set.
I get it this stuff is stupidly frustrating sometimes. Glad you found a way to get something working!
