Fixing the error code: "88013306"

So, I’ve finally figured out a weird and unconventional fix to this error message that can randomly appear when you’re trying to connect to your PS5 via Remote Play.

Why does the error message show up?

Not a clue. As previous posts have stated it can be due to ports not being forwarded correctly via your router, but I thought this was a bit weird since it works great before this error code appears all of a sudden, without any changes being made.

Now, I am in another country so I couldn’t manage to change within my router’s settings obviously until I came home. The error message has appeared before while out of town and the only fix I found then was that when I came home, I had to restart my PS5 to get it to work again.

My issues were not related to a specific Wi-Fi connection, or a specific carrier either.

What is the fix?

Well, the fix is awkward, but what I had to do was:

  1. Connect to a public Wi-Fi (in this case, my hotel’s wifi). This fix did not work on any cellular network.
  2. Use a VPN and connect to a server based in Hong Kong. I have no idea why, could it be that Sony’s Support has a support center in Hong Kong for these kind of situations? It didn’t work with any other country anyway.
  3. Connect to your PS5 via Remote Play.
  4. As you should gain access to the PS5 again, instantly restart your console completely.
  5. This restart causes some sort of reset, and after the restart is complete, you should be able to connect to your PS5 normally again from any network.

Hopefully this helps some people, as this error message was driving me nuts. Credit to the Hong Kong VPN fix that was found in a comment on YouTube.

Note: Using a VPN on your PC while trying to use PS Remote Play on your PC will cause this error. I disabled the VPN and it immediately worked.

Can’t even connect to the ps5 if i use vpn though

Idk why, but it works for me. Thanks

Worked for me. Thank you very much! I used VPN on my router, so my PS5 and PC could have the connection from the same place.

  • I’ve connected to Hong Kong server. My PS5 was in Rest mode at that moment.
  • Then launched the PS Remote Play application on my windows PC, and started the PS5 connection process.
  • The process timed out and said “link manually”
  • I turned on PS5, went to options to get the code, and entered it on PC
  • When the PS Remote Play app connected I just pressed Reboot in the PS5 menu.
  • Right after that I’ve turned off my VPN.

That’s it.

Same error message even when using a Hong Kong server? Is it still attempting and not just insta-failing?

Also, can you still manage your device’s storage in the regular PS app? Because if that’s blocked as well, the connection is even more broken.

This was comical but I tried it to no aval. Trying to access my PS5 in New York from Phoenix. I tested this before I left too. I can access my router though ugh.

What router do you have that you can use a VPN directly from it?

It worked, thanks! I did the same but haven’t connected to the Hong Kong VPN. Both the computer and PS5 were connected to the same router by an internet cable

It doesn’t link to the ps5 at all if i use vpn. If i dont use vpn i can link it and it turns on but then the error occurs.

I can access my device storage fine with the ps app

Thanks for saying thanks! It’s so nice to see Redditors being grateful
