Easy trick that helps to book cheaper hotels with VPN

I know that this is an old trick but still lots of people are still not aware about this method. You can save a lot of money while booking hotels with a VPN. It is a great way to save money for people who travels a lot and use booking.com for their hotels and rooms.

I’m a frequent traveler, so Booking is something I use quite often. When you are traveling to different countries several times a year, hotels cost a lot of money. One day I read somewhere about how you can get cheaper hotel prices with VPN. It’s really simple method, just connect to foreign country VPN server and check prices of hotels that you’re considering to buy. Here’s an example of one of the recent hotels I found cheaper using a VPN:

  • Stay at Grand Prince Hotel Takanawa in Tokyo, Japan on the United Kingdom server cost £768 ($975)
  • Stay at Grand Prince Hotel Takanawa in Tokyo, Japan on the Germany server cost €892 ($975 as well)
  • Stay at Grand Prince Hotel Takanawa in Tokyo, Japan on the United States server cost $878

This hotel is for two adults with the same check-in/check-out date. So this one purchase just saved me almost $100 with simple VPN server change (basically saved me more money than I paid for 2 years of VPN with one single booking). If you wanna try it yourself, don’t forget before changing servers to clear your browser history, and fully quit the browser (I was using Firefox). Sometimes because of cookies, you can’t see different prices even if the location is changed. If you don’t have a VPN I recommend checking out pinned comparison table made by r/vpn mods, it’s a good informative source if you’re looking for VPN and not sure which one to choose.

Hope this will be useful for someone, happy traveling!

Ty for posting this on r/travelhacks. It led me here. I’ve been trying to increase my internet security and didn’t know where to start! I downloaded Foxfire and Duckduckgo but not sure which one I’m gonna go with. Someone said something about Linux and it just went over my head after that. But at least I have a place to start. Still using Google as my search engine, not sure how to change that or who to use. Is there another subreddit where I could get beginner info? Really appreciate you and your post.

One question. When I was booking an apartment, I was asked for my country, and phone number. So when I selected Serbia and put my phone number (also Serbian) and clicked next the price went back up. Is it because they fixed the VPN method, or because I changed my country

R/privacy and r/privacyguides.
Use duckduckgo search engine. Look for in the browser settings.

Ty! I just joined both! Will work on changing my browser next!
