How many people out there actually trust SS? Everything about their service is false? They don’t care about you or your protection. Their app leaks your data all the time.
Every time you connect the VPN, do you leave it and trust you are surfing safely? Chances are Everything you do online is being leaked.
If you connect manually via OpenVPN or the wireguard app (not personally tried wireguard but believe it’s trusted by many), there are no issues, but soon as you reconnect via their app, boom! Leak, leak leak. No matter what test site you try, it’s reporting leaks yet revert back to OpenVPN and jet, hey, no issues.
Best thing is, surfshark will have you believe that there is no issue with their app at all and have you go round and round and round, trying all the same stuff because they ACTUALLY don’t have a clue what they are doing. If lost count, not of how many times I’ve tried the same changes they have recommended, only to report the same issues.
Do yourself a favour, STAY SAFE, STAY AWAY FROM SURFSHARK, or be prepared to be wasting time checking ALL the time
Don’t have any leaks with the app to be honest.
But I don’t trust the app being stable and with that secure ( as in it could leak when it crashes like for me the background services crashed but the killswitch still worked so that’s atleast something).
The app is a convoluted mess of different systems it even uses third party stuff like the" non sucking service manager "and stuff, polling every half second multiple fonts, writing in multiple areas app logs and more.
The app got tons of potential to get fixed and or optimized and specially improved.
You just see how fast the vpn connects with the wireguard app its near instant literarily you start your pc the desktop loads and bam it’s connected.
While the surfshark app even takes on a r7 5700x and a nvme a while it also loads a nvidia 3080 up to 2-7% when it’s open which is ridiculous to compare that’s literarily some old full 3d games which is just crazy.
In comparison to other competitors Surfsharks app is still middle of the field there are worse ones but also better ones.
Most of have slow startups for some reasons as an example.
Our app teams constantly tests every new Surfshark app release for leaks, and 99% such leaks happen because of the customer’s network having some custom DNS setup. It’s worth making sure that any DNS settings on the device are set to automatic. If that’s the case, our developers would love to know more about the issue.
Answer to your question: No I do not trust Surfshark even they conduct thousands audits until they have 15 mins logs policy.
Well, I never had any leaks with Surfshark from past 4 years as I have already switched my VPN provider.
For you: I tested with Cloudflare, Quad9 DNS servers I still do not have any leaks. I use Quad9 DNS always.
Plus, their support is not good TBH including technical team which I can say from my past experience, I always find solution by my own rather than wasting my time by contacting them live chat or sending email to them. You will end up with disappointment if you contact them especially when it is little to advanced level technical stuff.
But can you confirm below:
Do you get DNS leak only OR both (Public IP + DNS leak) while connected ?
I have recently started using directly Wireguard app with Surfshark, and I noticed it’s significantly more stable and faster. With The original app sometimes things get funky, but seems to be solved.
I have like 20 different tests and surfshark passed all of them for me. My issue with SurfShark is a ton of shit no longer works with it. Cant access Amazon, Plex etc.
happen because of the customer’s network having some custom DNS setup.
thats weird … the first thing support usually asks you todo is either set Surfsharks DNS , or some other DNS from a third party company ultimately making it a custom DNS setup…
YOUR developers and so-called sharks say different and have had me change DNS servers from auto to your DNS
It’s NOT just my network that I get this issue. It’s a public network, mobile network, works networks, friends, and family networks. So IF what you are saying is correct, then EVERYONE out there must have changed their DNS, and trust me, my family won’t even know how to!
I’ve reset my network many times on the instructions of your developers and so-called sharks, and I have also reset my phone/tablet, etc, and STILL gey leals
I feel that, along with MANY others who constantly get leaks that it is an SS issue, and it’s not 100% with everyone.
The biggest issue is, the fact that the SS app makes toi believe you are connected and protected, in reality if you actually do a test via, your sites and other DNS test sites, in fact everyone I’ve tried gives the same results, then OVER 50% of the time they all report leaks. Yet you look at the app, and it STILL states connected and protected. MOST people will rely on your app and surf away, thinking they are being protected, yet in reality, they probably aren’t at all because the app they rely on is, in fact, failing them. So, maybe SS need to change their developer team to a team that understand how to protect people and produce an app that ACTUALLY works.
However, I don’t believe SS will ever care because you have protected yourself with your terms and conditions. Stating you can not guarantee the app will actually work! It seems like you already know it fails because otherwise you wouldn’t have this in the T’s and C’s
It’s a bit of both, but not both all the time. I’ll go onto a test site, and all of a sudden, it states my ip is not hidden, and there I see my service provider. This is on all test sites, including SS. Other times, I get over 100 dns leaks just pouring through! Normally, if I get dns, I also get an ip leak, but I don’t always get dns with an ip leak
I’m happy to report that I have had 2 full days of no errors with SS. I am, however, having to keep checking for leaks due to the app constantly reporting that I am protected and all test sites, including SS, stating I am not.
Okay. Two possibilities could be there:
Case 1 : You are doing torrenting from unsupported countries like Sweden, India, etc.
Case 2 : You might be using a browser which might have DNS over HTTPS inside it. Firefox browser is one of them.
If you provide more details like browser name and country you are connecting to and having issues with I can test it out for you. Do not do torrenting from unsupported countries which could be the case. Try connecting to USA server and switch browser to Edge or Chrome. Do you get same same IP and same DNS IP while you see leaks? If yes, I would say torrenting is the main issue
