I got a subscription with them for 5 years. Only 1 euro/month so why not.
The main reason was that apparently they would give me the opportunity to watch series on channel5 in the UK. Also they have a 30-day money-back policy.
The result: absolute crap!
Their app looks a bit outdated, but I can live with that. The problem is most of the time I get an error when trying to connect to one of their servers. If I manage to connect, channel5 detects I’m using a VPN and will not play.
I tried to use the money-back option, actually the same day already, but they will not refund my money.
They claim I used a payment wall, whatever that’s supposed to mean. I used Ideal, which is common in the Netherlands, and they will not pay me back.
Fortunately the amount I paid was not crazy so I can live with that, but anyone thinking about using them, think again.
Thanks for letting us know they suck. I wanted to get their service because you have an option for an open port and I planned to torrent some stuff that I totally own all rights to, and without an open port torrenting is SLOW AS HELL. (Also curse my ISP for shielding consumers behind multiple firewalls/gates or whatnot so that port forward is impossible without begging them)
Been using Ivacy for the last 7 years primarily to hide my surfing & my torrents. Port forwarding works 100%. I can get 8.9 Mbps usenet downloads regularly downloading from tweaknews.eu & have hit up to 15 Mbps in Deluge grabbing torrents from different peers. Have come close to hitting my 5 Mbps upload cap a few times as well in Deluge. I’m physcially in Canada, btw, so it’s not like I’m close to my Usenet server & the speed is better than I thought it would be. For what I use it for, it works well.
Fair point, though an additional layer of protection always matters. Did I miss the point in time when VPN providers started to decrypt SSL traffic from https websites? Ouch, I thought it is technically impossible
100 mbps connection. Usenet, maxes out around 9 mbps (usenet server limit) & torrents i reached 30 mbps on Dec 31st with a couple of good seeds. Direct downloads, hit 3o mbps once, All through Ivacy. Supports port forwarding as well.
in time when VPN providers started to decrypt SSL traffic from https websites?
not all websites use ssl , also DNS if not used encrypted isnt either , also most often they replace your DNS by force with the vpn DNS so they know technically all domains ( even ones with identifiers in them )
Ouch, I thought it is technically impossible
Its possible , just not Feasible for most entitys atm.
I just got the 100 mbps connection. Was on DSL for many years, so going from 600-700kbps to anything from 1mbps to 30 mbps is a joy. 15-25 minutes to grab 5gb files is not getting complaints from me. Usenet side, I think my Tweak account is limited to 10 mbps max, torrents well, as you said; depends on how well seeded the torrents I’m grabbing and the swarm’s capability. I know I’ve capped my upload speed to 5 mbps.
