Can I turn it off after the download is in uTorrent or BitTorrent? I use opera so the VPN is limited to the browser anyways.
Don’t use uTorrent. And yes, keep it on during the whole download and seeding process. Once you’re done seeding and downloading, pause/finish the torrent so it’s completed and you can deactivate VPN. You don’t really need it to browse for downloads, just the downloading and seeding. Edit: I guess it depends if your country/ISP even cares if you torrent
You turn off a security camera during the ENTIRE robbery.
Using a VPN turns off that security camera.
Yes, keep the VPN active during the entire robbery.
I’d keep it on for the entirety of the download.
It depends on why your using the VPN to begin with, it sounds like it’s strictly browsing related to access a torrent site that otherwise might not be accessible to you?
If that’s the case, yes just turn it off after you get the file. If you aren’t using a system wide vpn, your torrent client isn’t using the VPN anyway so it wouldn’t matter if you disconnected.
Some VPN providers offer split tunnel
My question is off topic, but I am from a country where torrents are allowed. What will happen to you if you download torrents without a VPN?
Yes, it’s best to keep the VPN on for the entire duration of the torrent download. Even if the VPN is only active in your browser, the download can still expose your real IP address if the VPN disconnects or is turned off, leaving you vulnerable. It’s safer to maintain the VPN connection while downloading to protect your privacy.
Oh my…lol.
Short answer - yes
VPN in the browser is not going to help protect your torrent traffic in any capacity
Teach me why to not use uTorrent. Bit is different?
I moved to USA 4 months ago so I have no idea. But apparently you receive mails from your isp
qBitorrent is the best. You can find everything you need on the r/piracy megathread
With qbittorrent you can link your VPN so that it only works when the VPN is active.
Sounds awful, thank you for answer
Thank you! Never knew about this. https://reddit.com/r/Piracy/w/megathread?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share
Deluge is also great
It helped me setup radarr, sonarr, and prowlarr for automatic movie and TV show downloading and sorting. No real need for even browse torrent sites anymore, and with Plex, turns it into your own little streaming service. It has just about everything you need.
Does all of this still need a VPN?
This is amazing :o. It will save me a lot of time as I constantly go through torrenting sites. I guess I was living under a rock for the past few years…
