What are the key differences between 1.1.1.1 and warp? Which would either options be used for in certain scenarios?
1.1.1.1 is a DNS resolver. WARP is a VPN.
1.1.1.1 would be used to speed up internet browsing as it likely resolves addresses faster than your ISP’s resolver.
WARP would be used to encrypt your traffic in addition to using 1.1.1.1 as your DNS resolver. This is more of a privacy/security use case to keep people from spying on your network activity.

This.
Note, WARP assigns you a Cloudflare IP address for both IPV4 and IPV6. It does not, however, provide you with an ability to circumvent region locks. While your IP is hidden, WARP is designed to also place your location in your home country.
To build on this…
Warp also connects you to Cloudflares edge… you can use it as an authentication method for things like cloudflared. I use it as part of a zero trust solution for all of my applications.
Thanks!
You’re welcome!
This was my impression too but for some reason I still need to auth to my sites with warp connected. Maybe I’ve done something wrong…
