I use a notebook and connect to my work PC via VPN. Whenever I activate VPN the Wifi connection will be immediatly deactivated until I stop using VPN.
Is there a way to keep WIFI while using the VPN connection?

In order to do that, split tunneling needs to be enabled. This is a setting that is normally decided by the vpn configuration on the Vpn device ( firewall or router). Companies generally avoid enabling it for security reasons, however you can try asking your company IT team.
thank you! So the best would be to use actual LAN connection while I am using VPN, right?
I don’t think that will work. If your company has restricted split tunneling and has only allowed RDP through vpn, you will lose internet connectivity when connected to your work vpn irrespective of if it’s wired or wireless. What you can do is spin up a VM with any OS and connect to your work vpn inside the VM. This will disable internet access on your vm but your host should continue to work.
However do check with your it team before you do this. Ideally speaking for security reasons, you should be using a company laptop to connect to company vpn instead of your personal device. If they aren’t providing company laptops check with them if using a VM is okay with their wfh policy.
just got confirmation by a colleague who also uses Linux (Mint) but he doesn’t have the issue with Wifi being deactivated when starting the VPN. Maybe I need to do something in the settings?
There is a checkmark “Use this connection only for resources on its network” which is unchecked. Is this maybe the solution?
Yeah that could be it. Try checking it and reconnecting to the vpn. So it looks like your company hasn’t disabled split tunneling. That checkbox might enable it on your end. If that doesn’t work look for any other setting that specifies Lan access/local network access
