Okay, to begin I have zero knowledge of VPNs so take pity on my dumb question. I work from home via my company provided laptop. I connect to their VPN. Lately I have been considering a VPN service for my home network. I have my own personal laptop, my wife’s laptop as well as phones, tablets. Would there be any conflict issues with my work laptop connecting to my employer VPN? If yes, would there be some type of work-around?
You can nest one within the other but you’ll have big latency. So things like video calls might suffer.
It all depends how you plan to connect to your other VPN. If you’re using client apps on all devices you just don’t put one on the work laptop, easy.
If you’re planning to setup the VPN on your router some will have a function to filter traffic from certain devices out of the VPN you have configured. If you use anything on your local network for your personal devices (like a local media library or something) this would be the better option.
Using a home VPN alongside a work VPN on the same network can cause conflicts. To avoid issues, connect your work laptop directly to the work VPN.
Thanks, the work laptop would be separate. They don’t want anything unrelated to my specific work loaded.
