We do both.
- VPN / Ewon - my laptop is on their process network.
- Teamviewer/VNC - I am remote desktoping to an engineering/programming pc which is on their process network.
We do both.
We are also a integrator company, and it sounds like we’re trying to achieve the same thing you guys provide.
I think eWon would be a good choice, as it can provide data and user interface, although I’m not big on paying for a service, when it sounds like we can manage it without paying for a third-party service. Our “IT” guy says as long as there is a VPN on either side, they can talk to each other without additional software.
So I guess it comes down to find a good VPN router, possibly an all-in-one router, modem and switch with data…
I had read about Ewon and TeamViewer when doing my own research. Those are both paid services? Is eWon better than using hardware VPN? I think we would prefer to stay away from additional software.
Check out the Ewon Cosy… easy to setup and use, price competitive
No. The account is free to connect to a single ewon. If you want to connect to multiple ewons at once or maintain persistent connections you need to pay.
Ewon is a hardware VPN.
One port is internet connectable.
Other ports are for process network. Client can allow all the devices to be seen by the ewon by connecting the ewon to a switch. Or can plug just one PLC into the ewon.
you then use the ewon connection application/dialer and once it is securely connected your laptop is on the same network as the PLC.
