I have Xfinity for ISP and it’s normally a fast connection. But I’ve been having heavy lag and disconnects when using VPN for work.
Is Comcast known for throttling when they detect a VPN or is my issue likely something else?
Comcast is not throttling you. But it’s probably the VPN you’re using.
Xfinity doesn’t throttle. People with crappy WiFi connections are 99% of the problem.
How much of a difference in speed? VPN’s will cause up to a 50% throttle on their own anyway.
Yeah, Comcast has been known to throttle VPN traffic sometimes. Try switching servers or running a speed test without the VPN to see if it’s the issue. If it’s still bad, it might be something else on your end.
What do you mean they’ve been known to throttle VPN traffic? The problem is most people don’t investigate and immediately blame Xfinity. If the VPN they connect to is congested, no one ever blames the VPN.
But VPN’s are perfect and keep you safe. /s
