Hi
I randomly get the protonvpn chrome extension asking for user/password. Sometime it seems not to accept but continue to look as though the VPN is active.
I have been facing this problem on Brave 24/7, I move to Firefox and it’s works flawlessly
Proton wrote me this: We are aware of this issue, and our Development team is currently working on it.
A faulty cache mechanism in Chromium browsers continues to send authentication tokens after they expire despite the extension instructing the new one, which leads to an authentication prompt showing.
Most of the time, closing the prompt by clicking cancel will allow you to proceed with browsing the internet. You can also restart the browser when it happens, as it should get rid of the expired authentication.
If using Firefox is an option for you, note that it does not suffer from this bug. We’re working on finding an alternative that would not hit this problem.
I keep another tab open (duckduckgo) that when I reload the page there, it dismisses the pop-up in my original tab…
