I’m still having an accessing websites using any browser after connecting to my corporate VPN using Global Connect software and I believe my Linksys WRT1900acs router is the problem.
I’m able to connect to my corporate VPN and access websites with no issues when I’m connected directly to my modem.
I’m able to connect to my corporate VPN and access websites with no issue when I use my mobile phone as a hot spot.
My ISP assigned me a static ip address. With the help of some you, I was able to into my router settings. That didn’t resolve the issue.
I’m at a point where I’m considering switching to a different router altogether because I don’t know any other settings that I can adjust on my Linksys router to resolve this issue. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
I have WRtT1900AC not ACS but I had that similar problem when pandemic start and most of us are sent home for a Work from Home setup. My company laptop requires VPN to access our company resources and other website, when I wired my laptop to my isp gateway(modem/router) vpn and other website access works well. Once I put my WRT1900AC in the picture (gateway-WRT1900AC-Company Laptop w/vpn) it allows me access other website before enabling/connecting my company vpn network. Tech support told me that all Linksys router are VPN pass through routers which means it allow vpn services to work behind Linksys router. We found out that my modem is a modem/router which has NAT on it already and my WRT1900AC has NAT also on it. So what the phone support suggested me is to open the service ports use by my company VPN on my WRT1900AC. Then doing a complete power cycle of my gateway and WRT1900AC, when I enable/connect my company vpn from my laptop I can connect and access comoany resources and able to access other website too.
Check if issue will be fixed after turning off IPv6 just like others here
What type of VPN protocol is your corporate VPN is using? Is it IPSec VPN, OpenVPN, or PPTP.
Other VPN protocol might require NAT traversal configured on the VPN server.
Other VPN protocol will require the VPN client to have static IP settings that was already configured on the VPN server.
If your VPN client, (which is your computer), works fine with VPN when directly connected to your Gateway (modem/router), it means that your VPN server is properly configured.
Since you are cascading your WRT1900ACS from your Gateway, your WRT1900ACS will create another network address (different from your Gateway) which might cause issue .
Though your WRT1900ACS has OpenVPN server feature, by default it has VPN pass-through feature that will help any VPN client device connected on the LAN side (wired or wireless) of the WRT1900ACS to communicate with the configured VPN server located outside or located in the internet.
Other approach might be to setup port triggering on the WRT1900ACS: the port numbers might be asked from the VPN server.
Triggered port is the port for the VPN server.
Forwarded port are the range of port numbers that your VPN client software requires.
You may try to set your WRT1900ACS to bridge mode instead to make your VPN client work as if it is connected directly to your Gateway.
IPv6 is already disabled.
are you connecting via ethernet cable or also wirelessly? try different browsers or clear the cache and history of the browser
