There have been a lot of sites that just don’t work using a VPN or it recognizes it somehow and denies any access (like Kroger)
Anyone know a work around or am I just gonna have to turn it off anytime I actually need to use a website?

GameStop also blocks vpns from loading their site.
Sometimes changing the server helps.
From my experience some website will not work on vpn. Either they block it or the vpn block it. Especially those shopping website and sensitive country like website from china.
Kroger seems like a bit of an odd one, maybe they’ve had fraud problems, but it’s not uncommon for streaming services to use various methods to block IP ranges known to belong to VPN providers. Anyway, yes, it’s possible, not even that much effort for a site to know if a connection is coming from a VPN provider.
Reconnecting to the region so you get a different exit node that isn’t on the block list, but it’s not guaranteed to work. Your provider just may not have anything that’s not being blocked by a service.
The Kroger one surprised me, so I just turned VPN on and fired up the Ralph’s app, one of their West Coast subsidiaries. Sure enough, it would not display anything. But then I changed to server 9946 and it worked. I think maybe newer servers don’t get put in the banned list for quite a while. I had the same results using the Bank of America app.
