Thank you and sorry for a dumb question. I build PCs from time to time but have never dabbled in VPNs.
Last NFL season my nephew and I used YouTube TV to stream games all across America. What you need to do is change your travel ZIP Code in the account. You can do it multiple times a day. I’m sure that violates their terms of service but I only used it for four months.
So you do not need a VPN specifically for YouTube TV to watch shows in other states
This worked for me:
- Login without VPN
- Select the content you want to watch.
- Once you receive this message “youtubetv is not available in this country” turn your VPN on and hit refresh.
Some streaming services have blacklisted known IP addresses from VPN providers. Some VPNs have tools built-in to bypass those kinds of restrictions. Other times, you’re just out of luck.
It’s important to test it out before you buy, or to see what other people are saying about how that particular VPN works with YouTube TV, specifically. Maybe it works with Hulu, for ex., but not YT.
Maybe it’ll work, but I expect they’re tying it to your billing zipcode.
YouTubeTV now requires turning on Apple Location Services when watching a live event that’s region restricted. With vpn set to the region you want, you will still get a “verify your area” message
I appreciate your response. Understood.
A couple of these VPNs that I’ve looked at have free trials. So I think I’ll give them a whirl on week 1 of the NFL season and see how it goes.
Thank you.
Worked for me too thank you!
are you in Canada or outside the US when you tried this? If the former, what device has Youtube TV app that you can use to watch on a tv, would a chrome cast work?
sadly it didnt work for me is it because I doing this from another country?
Hey sorry for reviving but going through this now. Ever find any fix?
Truly couldn’t tell ya. With what YouTube did to ads I would assume it could be changed.
But gps spoofing with android has always worked.
Ya- did anyone find a solution to this? My wife visits France in the summer for a month and she cannot use YouTube TV. I thought the VPN would be a solution, but when I got there I realized the problem was with the location tracking and being out of country.
Yea I’m good on android. It’s just the pc
Is there a specific app you use? I can’t figure out how to get the app from picking up my location for some reason.
A general walkthrough would be awesome.
For what it’s worth, it doesn’t seem to work. It won’t let me change the zip code. I want to have a specific zip code for Orlando, but it keeps updating my “travel” location to where I currently live and showing me local news here.
Not working for me too. Did you find a way ?
