Best VPN ? While Im in Russia?

I’ve paid for 2 years of Nord VPN but I heard its not so great in Russia. I will be staying in SPb and want a good VPN. Even if I have to pay for it.

Thanks!

The safest thing is to rent a virtual machine and set up your VPS… for example outline , it’s very easy to install.

I use PIA daily, have no problems

A cheap VPS with Wireguard. Price is comparable to paid VPNs, IPs are very unlikely to get blocked.

Some routers also have VPN services, so you could connect through your home router. You’ll need to set up forwarding, but there are enough guides on that.

Every VPN mentioned in a public forum eventually will be banned. So the best thing I could recommend is to deploy your own VPN on your own virtual private server. You may purchase one from hetzner and follow this YouTube tutorial to deploy a VPN on there

antizapret. All info on their site, use translate.

Why no one mentions Adguard?

Wide VPN with the open VPN app, $15 for 2 year subscription. Never let me down

Popular VPN services are getting blocked in Russia.
So I would advise AGAINST paying for a VPN subscription (your service might be blocked overnight and you get subscription of nothing).

When you are in Russia check for all available free VPN services until you find one that works. That’s what I do.

I won’t recommend any particular service for exactly the same reason.

Another solution might be “Make your own VPN”, i.e. buying a VPS and setting up VPN server there. But I have never tried that so can’t recommend.

I use very first vpn app I found in appstore. Works fine even free version.VPN Super in android store. twitter/FB/IG + some news videos from western media work well.

Don’t see much problems.

On a desktop I use Firefox with VPN plugin. Also works perfect

I’ve never bothered with paid VPN. I’ve always used whatever was a free add-on for firefox/opera and that was enough for me.

Upside: …well, free
Downside: they come and go, so they stop working. Speed might be an issue sometimes.

RN I’m using hotspot shield.

If you’re serious about it, you’d be better off setting up your own server.

I use Wireguard with FineVPN
Though for some reason 2 of vpns I got from finevpn block my google searches, idk if I got unlucky or they are all like that

ProtonVPN has trouble establishing connection, but if it does connect it works well for now.

Nord and Proton (and many others) are banned in Russia, meaning that they are trying to block their functionality with a varying degree of success, although it’s not illegal for you to use them if they do work.

Your own VPN on (foreign) hosting

I’m using OpenVPN, not really secure, but grants access to all sites possible

Got it. That’s good to hear. I was in Russia in October 23 and NordVPN didn’t work. Next time I consider your option.
Cheers

This is all done virtually? No physical hardware?

Are you using PIA in Russia?

Isn’t Wireguard blocked by now? At least I read about it here on Reddit.

so im basically renting out from hetzner right?

Damn, you guys are going full North Korea.
