I’ve been bouncing between VPNs for when I travel but am having an issue with them either blocking or getting blocks by apps and sites like Minecraft and Battle.net. Anyone have recommendations on VPNs that work on PC/iOS that don’t do that?
Its not that the VPNs are blocking sites. Its that certain sites block traff8c from VPNs because a lot of VPNs are used to hack or flood sites with traffic.
Mullvad simply the best hands down. You can turn dns-blockers off and its based in sweden (which probably has THE best laws when it comes to user data storage) while having the best data protection there is: you dont give them any data. You dont need an email, name or anything to register and you can even pay with cash if you are paranoid af. When registering you simply get a long ID and thats your login. Their speeds are top notch and it costs 5€/$ per month.
Also looking for an answer here, this frustrates me. As much as I’d like to use a VPN, the captchas and the blocked sites just really make the experience annoying lol. I try my best to commit but I always end up turning it off in a matter of minutes after it blocks a site lol
Mullvad. They got raided and the cops found nothing.
I have no problem with SurfShark.
I’m using OVPN and has never had the problems you describe.
Surfshark with dedicated ip doesn’t get blocked unless your traffic looks like a ddos attack to a domain.
I use SafeShell while traveling, and haven’t encountered any issues with blocking or other problems.
I tried to use Mulvad but it wouldn’t work on campus, I guess they are able to block certain VPNs from working
And it’s super fast. Sometimes I have to speed test a few servers but I can easily saturate my gigabit connection. No other VPN comes close.
Remember to use “mullvad owned” servers to ensure you stay within their network. They lease servers globally, but own a handful of servers in Europe.
Amen! So annoying having to turn it off especially when last time I did, my Microsoft account was immediately attacked. Thank god for 2FA
Q: Whats the best food?
A: Try a puzzle.
About the same.
That’s DNS, not a VPN afaik
I know this is an older post, but I was searching and the thread popped up. I use Surfshark and have found Twitter won’t load comments on threads when it’s on or sometimes a website won’t load. Does this happen to you? I end up having to pause the Von 5-6 times every day.
Just in case anyone else finds this, surfshark is not the solution. They are blocked by tons of websites in my experience including twitter, amazon, my bank etc.
I would try changing the port on the app; there’s a slight chance that it will bypass “the great firewall” or not.
Sometimes they will block unknown traffic. The router gets enough info to decide general categories like gaming, video, etc.
I had my gaming traffic throttle in college because I didn’t get on the gaming Wi-Fi network. It was so dumb.
Speaking of, it just blocked Minecraft again.
