I need a VPN that actually works and doesn’t get blocked immediately by the big streaming sites like Netflix, Disney plus, Hulu, Amazon prime, etc… I’ve tried a few already and I’m tired of wasting money only to find out that the VPN gets detected and doesn’t allow me to access netflix from other countries. I already tried Nord VPN, Express, and PIA so don’t recommend those.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you’ll find that a majority of “big-name VPN’s” will get blocked by Netflix and others. It isn’t a knock on the VPN service, this mostly happens because a lot of people abuse these streamers and they catch on to the IP’s that frequently show up.
With that being said, there are some VPN services that still work - namely surfshark, PureVPN and mullvad still work when I last checked.
Did you try using Nord, express, and PIA with each of those streaming sites you mentioned (netflix, disney, hulu)? I’d be very surprised if those VPN’s were blocked by each streamer. Usually that can happen with free VPN’s but with a paid one it would be very concerning if it was blacklisted across the board.
I am with nordvpn and for the most part i’ve been satisfied. With that being said i don’t use it for streaming sites so i can’t comment on that. How many of the geo’s have you tried with Nord? Sometimes you have to switch it up a few times before you get it working.
I’ve always found that Surfshark was the most consistent with these types of sites. I also went through a period in which i had to try a bunch of different VPN’s with Netflix before I finally found one that works.
imo you can’t rely on any single VPN. Nord VPN may not work now but at some point it did, but then it got abused. Same thing goes for all the other VPN’s. At some point they all stop working (and other start working again).
There isn’t a single VPN that I can recommend that is 100% never going to be blocked on ALL streaming sites. Such a service doesn’t exist. My only advice would be to try using lesser-known VPNs which are less likely to have been spammed to death.
I may just be lucky, but i’ve never had an issue with a VPN not working for netflix. Literally never, and I have used at least 4 in the last 2 years. Granted, I didn’t use it for that purpose all that often but still.
I use NordVPN, and in the past, sometimes it gets detected and sometimes it doesn’t. But when I narrowed down the location (instead of United States, I use Atlanta or Los Angeles, known for faster servers), there was a higher percentage for not getting detected. I use it for Netflix, HBOMax, Disney+ and Crunchyroll.
definitely give surfshark a shot. I use it when watching netflix (a couple times a week) and I don’t think I’ve ever had to switch the location… It’s always worked flawlessly. I imagine it works with other streaming sites too.
NordVPN works for me most of the time! I think it’s a good VPN overall. ExpressVPN, Surfshark, and Mullvad are also pretty good!
Did you end up finding one that works?
I understand that i can never fully rely on any vpn but I’m looking for something that is working at this moment. I know that at some point in the future its fairly likely to stop working.
+1 for Surfshark & Mullvad. I recommend those not only for streaming but for all browsing at this point. Proton VPN also doesn’t get as much recognition as it should.
With Nord, I tried all the ones i have a subscription with, which is Netflix, Disney+ and hbo. Nord failed with each of those. Then with express and PIA I only ended up trying Netflix and with both, it failed to work.
I tried about a half dozen only in the US, mainly the ones where I know the connection will be fast and stable. I wasn’t going to try other countries because I only want to access USA netflix so even if it worked in Portugal it wouldn’t matter.
I’ll give Surfshark a look. How long has it been working for you?
I understand this, but I’d at least like to have one that works right now. There has to be one that I can successfully connect to USA netflix with.

You’re probably just lucky. Many people have difficulties accessing Netflix (or other sites) using VPN’s because there are so many people using those ports that eventually the major sites like Netflix catch on and block those IP addresses due to spam. There’s only a few that will actually let you connect.
well i thought i made it pretty clear that the only reason i want to use a vpn is for streaming so it’s kind of irrelevant to mention that it “works” for you but you don’t use it for that purpose all that often. Literally 99% of the reason for using a VPN would be for streaming sites in my case.
