Am I able to install a VPN on my Xbox?

I am a college student who is looking to occasionally play Xbox in the dorms. The big issue? There is a firewall preventing the access of multiple games (call of duty, Minecraft, gta, etc). Is there any way that I can set up a VPN to bypass this firewall?

Not on the Xbox. Your options are share the VPN over a hotspot from your PC or install the VPN in to a router, and have the Xbox connect to that.

I feel your pain. Well, you can’t slap a VPN directly on the Xbox, but you can set one up on your router or share it from your PC - problem solved. If you’re not sure which VPN to go for, check out a VPN comparison table. It’ll help you find one that’s fast enough for gaming and works with routers.

I wonder if you could give the Xbox an Ethernet feed from your laptop which would be connected to the school’s WiFi, but running a VPN…

Not OP. Came here looking for help on this subject, is it possible to wifi share with a VPN on linux? If so, how?

erm could you tell me the process of how to connect it to my laptop and then on my console? i’m sorry im new to this stuff but i really wanna play some games that i cant cause they’re restricted on my campus

That’s actually a good question I’ma try this out real quick

Yes it’s possible on Linux. Not done it myself though as I’ve always used a VPN router.

According to this guy, it is possible:

“This should work just fine.Windows still has Internet Connection Sharing, which is basically a very simple software NAT router. You can share your Wi-Fi connection over Ethernet, and then any computer attached to the Ethernet port should be able to get an IP from your laptop and access the Internet. You use the Network and Sharing center to do this - you bring up the adapter list and then get properties on the wireless connection that has Internet access, and choose the Ethernet adapter as the device to share to.As a bonus, if at least one of the computers has gigabit Ethernet, you can connect your computers with a straight-through Ethernet cable (no crossover needed) since Gigabit has “auto MDI-X” in the spec, meaning it will detect and switch the pinout as needed based on the cable type.If you are using Mac OS X (macOS), this is also supported using Internet Sharing in the Sharing control panel. And if you’re using Linux, you can easily do this as well using a combination of dhcpd and iptables NAT.Bonus facts: At a logical layer, there’s no inherent difference between Ethernet and Wi-Fi (they use the same frame format). Your typical in-home router shares an Ethernet connection to Wi-Fi, but there’s no reason you can’t share them in any combination, and in fact devices do exist that can do all of the possible combinations:Ethernet to Ethernet - typical early cable/DSL routers without Wi-FiWi-Fi to Wi-Fi - Wi-Fi range extenders or bridgesWi-Fi to Ethernet - “Game” bridge adapters allowing Ethernet devices to connect to Wi-Fi networks”

Did you have any luck with this I’ve been trying and my xbox can’t connect to dchp it says
